L-Gage

- Atari Lynx emulator for N-Gage -

This was just an April Fool's Joke! Sorry!
(However, it would be nice to see someone develop such an emulator!)

Did you buy an N-Gage only to be disappointed with the assortment of games available for the system? We're happy to announce L-Gage, an Atari Lynx emulator for the N-Gage that allows you to play the large library of Lynx games on your N-Gage! For those not familiar with it, the Atari Lynx is a portable game system released by Atari many years ago. It was the first portable game system with a backlit, color screen and was far ahead of its time (far superior to the Gameboy!) Unfortunately, Atari bungled the Lynx and while it did live on for a few years, it eventually succumbed to Nintendo's superior marketing onslaught. And there were some problems with the Lynx, such as poor battery life and the screen was somewhat washed out.

Now you can play Lynx games on the N-Gage, in a form factor that's mildly similar to the Lynx (d-pad on the left, buttons on the right, screen in the middle!) And with the N-Gage's far superior screen and battery life, you can better enjoy games on the N-Gage than you can on a Lynx (to say nothing about carrying around a large number of Lynx games around with you, without having to tote around lots of cartridges).

Known Problems:

As this is the first, preliminary release, Lynx games run rather slowly, under 10 FPS. And sound is way off. Games may sometimes lock up--if this happens you can exit L-Gage and reload the game again. Other times even worse things happen. Like not being able to exit! And having to shut the phone off by removing the battery! This only happened to me once while testing (playing) Roadblasters.
