No new Mac Mini at macworld.

Lame

Lame

Lame

Did I say lame?

No wonder they aren't going to do these shows anymore.

I've got my EFI-X so it looks like I'll be building my hackintosh after all.

Yep, that was one of the worst Macworld keynotes ever. Whoopdeedo, they updated iLife and iWork, re-introduced the 17" MBP, and introduced pricing tiers in the iTunes Music Store. No new Mac Mini, no updated iMac, no new displays, no iPhone Nano.

And I was laughing my ass off when the Macrumorslive.com page got hacked. :)

I saw it get hacked, but didn't see those messages. Probably depended on when the browser was auto-refreshing as the site went down for me after the "Jobs is dead" "no he's not" entries.

Just wish they'd offered the antiglare option on my 15" MBP. I put on this Anti-Glare film from Photodon. Works well, though is a touch too much anti-glare (it looks a little fuzzy compared to the external monitor, but much better than the mirror finish). It went on OK, though the notch for the camera was slightly off and obscured one corner of my image in iChat. I peeled the film back to trim it and some dust snuck in. Luckily it's in the border so I don't notice it.

I didn't watch the "live" coverage (my... aren't those hackers clever with their witty, insightful repartee?). I watched the Philnote later in the evening. I didn't expect anything, although a new Mini would have been nice (not that I'd buy one for myself anyway). I'm glad they're moving to DRM-free music though. Maybe I'll actually buy something from the iTunes store someday. Phil did an admirable job for someone who obviously isn't very comfortable with the whole public speaking thing. Tony Bennett rocked.

Apple's been breaking away from trade shows since they dropped out of MWExpo Boston, and has been mostly doing their product announcements when it suits them - not whenever an Expo rolls around. Their retail and web presence has pretty much made MacWorld Expo non-essential. I'll give it one more year (if that) before it dries up completely and blows away. No Adobe? No Apple? No trade show. (Like they're going to fill Moscone center with people looking to buy iPod covers and Belkin hubs.)
