What, you need more than just "Tron in HD!"? Isn't that enough!? :o

Oh right... "when".

Tomorrow night. Specifically, Wednesday night, on HD Net. 9 PM ET, or 6 PM PT, repeating again 3 hours later at 12 Midnight ET/ 9 PM PT.

This is why it's a good thing to read Tron-Sector from time-to-time.

Otherwise, I would have been seriously tweaked if I'd missed it.

This one is going to be a keeper on the DVR. (At least until the Blu-Ray version comes out.)

Also, the Flynn Lives website has been updated, and Encom also lives! Things are afoot! :-D

Sweet! DVR's been set, thanks for the heads up :ponder:

Glad to be of assistance! :)

My DVR's all set to go to... I even double-checked it online to make sure I didn't forget.

Incidentally, one of these shows is going to be the subject of an upcoming blog entry.

And it isn't Tron. :ponder:

Make it Top Gear!

How about Top Gear?

I know, I know...Top Gear! :ponder:

I love that show. I bet you never could've guessed that though.

I didn't notice the hand pointer when I captured that... but no, it's not a clue.

Arrgh, I got home too late tonight to record this. Only to discover that I can't even tune into HDNet even though I'm paying for it. Time Warner supremely sucks, and the SDV box (Switched Digital Video) is a nightmare that has never worked 100% on either of my TiVo HD units (and I'm not alone--tons of complaints about this on the TiVo Community Forums). I predict that within a few months I will have DIRECTV.

Tron looked pretty good. Some of the film looked amazing, some is definitely showing its age. Part of the problem with broadband HD is that the signal is highly compressed, so you start seeing artifacts when there's a lot of movement or detail on screen (something that isn't an issue with Blu-Ray).

I did notice details and subtlety that I'd never seen on DVD, but problems such as misregistration, color changes (the characters faces change hue from scene to scene), grain and dirt were also more pronounced. Also, I think this is the first time I'd watched Tron since the sequel was announced, and even though Tron is (and will remain) one of my favorite films, it does come across as more campy than I'd probably care to admit (especially some of the dialogue). I suppose though, that's part of the charm of the film. I don't see how they can keep that sort of tone with the sequel though. It'll be interesting to see how well Tron: Legacy works alongside the original - if it does at all. The trailer hits theaters with Alice in Burtonland this Friday. Hopefully, it'll hit Apple's trailer site shortly after that.

there might be an animated TRON series

I read about that on Tron-Sector today.

Dunno about that...

If it's just another cheap animated TV series, that just screams "awful" to me. (Although oddly enough - Tron was originally conceived as an animated project. Go figure.) But if they do something with it like the Clone Wars where it's halfway-decent CG... it might work. Maybe.

The Tron 2.0 video game sure looked good.
