Getting excited about Dave & Buster's

I've never been to Dave & Buster's and I might end up hating it, but it looks like I might have some fun there:

From where I live, the closest amusement park is Carowinds. I've been there 3 or 4 times over the years and I always feel like I wasted my money, especially since they don't have a Tilt-A-Whirl.

I hope I can take a trip to Dave & Buster's and play Skeeball and other fun games and not have a drop of guilt or disappointment. I might actually enjoy my time there and not feel like I wasted a ton of money.

D&B is great if you don't mind boring food and drinks at gourmet prices and paying .75 - $5.00 to play a game. I've been about a dozen times over the years (although admittedly not any time in the past few), always saw it as a way overpriced adult arcade. It's not that it's not a fun place, it is fun, but not unlike a strip club...be sure and take out a loan before you go for maximum enjoyment.

At the D&B I was at, several of the specials would come with credits for the arcade. The weird thing, for me, was I didn't notice what the dollar to credit ratio was. I'm sure it's intentional, so you don't notice you're paying $1.50 per game.

It costs 40 bucks just to get into Carowinds and they only have about 2 rides that I like. The food is very expensive and a soft drink costs over 3 dollars. If you want to play any games, that's even more money.

After I go to Dave & Buster's later this year, I'll see if I feel as ripped off.

I guess you're not a coaster junkie. Intimidator is a modern megacoaster, which can be a lot of fun. And it looks like there's a couple of wooden coasters and a few unique ones too.

I only like certain coasters. I don't fit that great in a lot of them. Here are my two favorite rides at Carowinds:

Carolina Cyclone

It used to have a barn thingy that the coaster went through that smelled like old Booker T. Washington wood, but they cut the top off and ripped out a lot of the wood, so I don't like it as much now.

Scream Weaver (Inside)

It's hard for me to get my legs in this thing, so I don't ride it that much.

If they had a Tilt-A-Whirl, you couldn't keep me away. It's just not worth the money without a Tilt-A-Whirl.
