Meet my friends Beth & Bryan, from Corpus Christi, in Austin last night to go see Southern Culture on the Skids at The Continental Club. We'd originally planned to see them last weekend at TCC in Houston(were we saw them last year) and also check out CSI: The Experience, but weren't able to due to my friend's cat becaming deathly ill(the cat's doing much better now).
I'm not sure what genre I'd put the SCOTS in, wiki has this to say - Stylistically, they gravitate towards the rockabilly, surf rock, country music, and R&B genres, with a punk edge and outrageous humor thrown in. Whatever the genre, the music is fun and they put on a great live show. One of their traditions during "Eight Piece Box" is to toss fried chicken into the audience - Bryan caught a leg! We met up with some friends of Beth & Bryan's before the show for dinner and ended up joining them to hear some bluegrass performed Yonder Mountain String Band at Stubbs. For the first half of the show we were right up at the front, for the second half we went to the back so there was more room to dance to the music. They were really good - I see they have a number of albums available in the iTunes Store and plan to pick some up in a couple weeks, after I recover from buying new car tires.

Is that what they have in their player a representative selection? The Rose Garden cover seems to be rather straightforward, but the other two are cool
