Last night I realized that I could use smooth scrolling up/down and delayed scrolling left/right(like in Thrust+ Platinum ). The entire viewable window into the maze will shift left/right on the screen, and once it'd gone far enough it would rapidly recenter to provide an illusion of smooth scrolling where there really isn't.
