Scrabble for the DS

I went to Best Buy today and bought Scrabble for the DS. I played it for about an hour (3 games) and I beat the computer AI on level 1 twice and level 2 once. Next time I feel like playing this game, I'm going to try and see if I can beat the AI on level 3. I question the computer's Scrabble-playing abilities, though. Most of the time, it builds either 2 or 3 letter words. Only once did it build a 6-letter word ("SPRITE" on a triple word score) and zoomed ahead of me by 30 points. I naturally came back and slaughtered the AI on that game. On another game, I forced the computer to subtract 10 by forcing him to keep the Q at the end of the game when I used all my letters. While I was playing it, my mom was gone, she went out to spend time with my sister and her kids. I think I'll play this again when she does that tomorrow. If I don't find a better game than this for the DS this year, I'll crown this the best DS game of the year. The year is young, still,...

Kurupoto: Cool Cool Stars

This is a puzzle game. You must guide the ball-like character (a star) to a halo (goal) by turning the playfield left and right. As you do, there are some blocks (Kurupotos) that fall depending on how you turn the playfield. These blocks, when in the right place, help you get to the goal. Although the story in between levels is kinda stupid (The stars in the sky fall down, and the Kurupotos, these blocky creatures, help get the stars' haloes back so they can get back in the sky. Who knew stars couldn't be in the sky without halos?), the puzzle aspect is there. Well worth the $15 I paid for it, but you must unlock the mode where you can play any playfield you want by completing the entire story mode. A good thing about this though is that the game saves automatically in the story mode, so you can turn the game off without saving it. I don't know how many levels (constellations) there are though, and the instruction booklet doesn't tell. I have never heard of this...

Puzzle Games That Begin With P

Here's some DS reviews:

Planet Puzzle League
Planet Puzzle League is basically Pokemon Puzzle League for the N64, which in turn is basically Tetris Attack. One thing I don't like about certain DS games is holding it sideways. PPL makes you do this. But as far as puzzle games go, it's solid. You control the pieces with the stylus, making them trade places horizontally by touching the stylus and moving it left or right. If you get three or more matching pieces (by color), they disappear, while new ones keep coming up from the bottom. The major beef is there is no vertical movement. It's a pretty long one, too, as a beginner game can take as long as a half-hour before you get a game over (which is caused by the pieces going to the top.) But fortunately, there is a button to touch with the stylus to make the pieces rise up faster.
