My ramblings on the subscription idea

Posted by atari2600land, 20 November 2009 · 10 views

So they want to make me pay to continue using the site. 99% of my time on the internet is spent here, it looks like i'll have to fork over dough. Great. Just when the economy is bad, along comes a pay site that I need to use. That's not to say the site is great, it is, but it would be a major bummer if I have to spend money in order to use a website. I guess it shouldn't come as a total shock, as nothing is free anymore, so why not pay? I don't know, I am so disappointed that AA can't handle being free any more, but given the current status of the global economy: #1 - it would probably be typical that AA would need money, but #2 - it's kind of ironic that everyone else needs money, too. This, and my dog being sick, and the Blazers about to lose and the rain makes this a really crappy day.

Where does it say that it's required to subscribe to continue to use the site? I haven't read that anywhere. My understanding is that for extra features/privileges you have to subscribe.

Yeah thats what I read too its not going Private for pay only its being considered on how and what the plus's of a paid sub would be

Totally.

AL is not going to put Atari age behind a pay wall. This is about adding some goodies people might want to pay for, and those that can do that, help the site run better, faster, etc...

I wouldn't worry about it.

What's going to happen is some people will pay, some people won't. Some people can, some people can't.

In the end, Al sees a few bucks needed to make this thing go, and we all are happy campers.

As far as i know you will still be able to use the site if you can not pay you for a subscription so no worries.

OK, when I read the thing, I got the impression that you needed to pay. I guess I don't now. Thanks for clearing it up.
