Still in the jungle

Posted by s0c7, 22 January 2012 · 111 views

I've been on hiatus for a while. Haven't even thought about coding for months, but I'm slowly coming back to it. Looks like some of the guys have been up to interesting stuff (cd-w, etc) lately.

I know it's a simple little game (and I have no intentions of making it more than 2k), but I am quite fond of Jungle Girl and am...

For those who might have a interest in programming the Odyssey2

Posted by s0c7, 06 November 2011 · 73 views

If any of the rest of you in the programming community have any interest in giving the Odyssey2 a whirl, I thought I would mention this:

I have one of these and it works great. For...

Jungle Girl update

Posted by s0c7, 28 September 2011 · 60 views

I'm calling it a day on Jungle Girl (for the Odyssey²). Moving on to other projects.

I've play tested the NTSC version on hardware without issue. Barring somebody finding a bug, this will probably be the final bin. Due to the timing differences, I can't get the PAL version to play at the same speed as the NTSC, so I've made 2 PAL...

In the jungle...

Posted by s0c7, 23 August 2011 · 70 views

Here's the latest version of Jungle Girl (for the Odyssey2). Now with Voice support. Since you have to be a member over at videopac.nl to download anything, I thought I'd post this here for those who only have a passing interest in things O2.

Basically you are a Sheena type, trying to save the friendly native from marauding...

What I'm up to these days

Posted by s0c7, 20 June 2011 · 74 views

I never had a Odyssey² growing up. I only knew one kid who had one, and he only had the sports titles (not the system's strong point). But after seeing LS_Dracon's AtariAge screen experiment, I decided to check it out. It's quite a fun little machine to program for once you learn some of the odd quirks it has. If you are a...

Bifröst is finished

Posted by s0c7, 08 November 2010 · 87 views

I'm calling Bifröst complete (see Homebrew forum). I know it's a simple little game, but I'm quite pleased with it. Doing something completely in asm has been my long term goal since I joined AA back in '05. And of course I'm proud of everything I've done along the way.

Time to take a sabbatical I think.

Another Bifröst update

Posted by s0c7, 03 October 2010 · 49 views

And the final form begins to take shape.

Changes this time out:
More graphic changes.
Driving controller support has been removed. Joystick only.
Level progression has been reworked. Each level now consists of:
31 Frost Giants
Fenris Wolf
31 Fire Giants
Midgard Serpent

The Fenris Wolf & Midgard Serpent require 5 hits to destroy. Each hit...

Life Goes On

Posted by s0c7, 26 September 2010 · 33 views

Not too much going on with me Atari-wise these days. I did recently start tinkering with Bifröst/Odin again. The "Odin!" speech sample has been replaced with something else, so I guess the title is back to Bifröst.

Mostly cosmetic changes from a player point of view this time out. Several changes behind the scenes. When I...

Any way you want it

On the Odin front, I noticed several people jumped back a blog entry and got the last joystick version instead of the driving controller version last time out. Since the last joystick version had a couple of minor issues, I'm posting this. The color/b&w switch sets the controller. Color = joystick. B&W = driving controller. I also...
