Hi there!
Long before Street Fighter, Out Run was the first game to get a Turbo sequel:

Considering that I played the original game on the Genesis, choosing the C64 version for the sequel probably looks like one step forward and two steps back. But believe it or not, this is the better game. It is another well crafted C64 conversion from Probe Software. I featured some of their previous C64 games (Trantor, Savage and Mr. Heli) and must say they improved with every title I've been "Playing..." so far.
For the music they once again collaborated with the Maniacs of Noise and they delivered yet another quality SID score. The graphics are fast and offer a great sense of speed and, just as important, a believable impression of driving up- and downhill. I haven't seen racing game graphics this good on the C64 in a while, I think they might only be rivaled by Turbo Charge.
The gameplay is, well, Out Run with a Turbo switch
There's 16 checkpoints, which are loaded in chunks of 4 at a time. It's a pretty easy game, only the last 4 checkpoints were challenging enough that I didn't reach them in time on my first try. There's not much more to it. Just that fundamental fun you have when driving a simulated Ferrari around in full speed, having a simulated good looking girl sitting next to you. (Note to self: Read some Test Drive Unlimited 2 Reviews
)

Some future day the "Playing..." series may see the next sequel "Out Run Europe", but first it'll continue with something else.
Greetings,
Manuel
