I know it's hard to tell from the screenshot, but as usual that's European Football, not American:
Well, well... here I thought it'd be absolutely impossible to make a C64 soccer game worse than Fighting Soccer, but here we have a programming team called "Wow Software", that definitely tried very hard to claim the "All Time Worst C64 Soccer Game" award!
As the name alreadly indicates, "Street Cred Football" tries to provide the experience of a backyard 5-A-Side-Soccer game. It does start somewhat promising, when the game let's you pick your team from a roster of 25 different players, albeit they already look suspiciously (spectrumishly
) monochrome. Look again at the screenshot above and let me tell you that every player from that clone army plays exactly the same.
The whole game actually reminded me a lot of the two years older "Street Sports Soccer" game from Epyx, which already was a pretty bad game on its own, but even on the task of just stealing every single idea from it, the makers of Street Cred Football fail miserably. The game looks like it was whacked together over a single weekend, especially with its obviously non-existent audio-visual efforts.
Once again I must say that it actually is playable, sort of. Thankfully the game only lasts 2 full minutes though, then I had the computer already beaten 11:1 in my first try
Some future day the "Playing..." series may see it's sequel "Street Cred Boxing", but first it'll continue with something else.
