Finished Ico (PS2)

Posted by , 07 March 2006 · 13 views

What a great game. It is the story of a boy who is banished by his village because he happens to grow bull-like horns. They imprison him an in an uninhabited island castle. Well, almost uninhabited. He meets a young girl with strange powers who is also a prisoner. The two work together to escape the castle, which just happens to be filled with well designed and challenging puzzles. The game's style is unusual for a video game, with a minimal use of color and music. It will not be to everyone's taste, but it is worth taking a look if you have a PS2. If you finish the game, be sure to wait until the end of the credits. You may not like it if you have a fear of heights. If you don't a have fear of heights, you will. ;)Wikipedia link

yes, Ico is wonderful. I want to pick up the European version of it because I think there's a light sabre in there somewhere as well as a two-player mode (yes, player two controls the girl.) that unlocks after you complete the game for the first time (they let you save). I think it's time I play Ico again.

I just played a little more Ico, starting from the beginning. It turns out that Yorda can eliminate enemies instantly while she opens one of the magic gates. So if there is a gate nearby, get her to it ASAP, and don't bother fighting. Wish I'd known that earlier.
