      The man that Destroyed X-Box:
In all honesty, the X360 and PS3 were good enough to not warrant replacements for another two years. However, I get why Nintendo wanted to replace the Wii with the Wii U and rightfully did so. What makes X-Box One all the more tragic is how Alien: Isolation made great use of Kinect 2.0 for immersion.

    • The idea that criticizing someone means that you're attacking them is such a stupidly bizarre thing.   The way these dudes will say literally anything to make Amico sound good and make it seem like notIntellivision are doing a good job is just so so so strange.
    • In my ongoing mission of bringing my Atari gear back into use, all was looking good. Sadly, I spoke too soon…   After getting my 800XL back up and running with its new SDrive Mini, I was happy to see the 1050 also still works. It's not something I'd want to use very often - that's what the SDrive is for now - but it's nice that I can still access my old floppies for that ultimate nostalgia fix.   However, in short, for one glorious moment, both the 800XL and its 1050 floppy drive lived, just like it was 1986. And then before my very eyes, it was all over. The 1050 was dead!  😪   And the longer version:   For a couple of times, the 1050 worked. Then a few days later, turn it on and it went haywire. I don't remember exactly what what it did, but it certainly wasn't normal behavior.   Quickly turned it off and took it apart so I could see what was happening inside. Unfortunately though, this time I powered it on, nothing happened. Power light on, but no activity.   I'm sure I tested the power supply previously, and I can only assume I saw nothing of concern. Tested this time though, and without load, it's putting out about 11.5v. That's not normal… right?   Does this behaviour sound familiar to anyone? What would be the most likely thing to have fried?   Looked at the circuit board and can see nothing obvious. Photos attached.   I do actually have another broken 1050 - that one stopped working decades ago - so maybe I could make a good one out of the two. But to do that, I need a replacement power supply first. Finding an AC one seems to be problematic though.   What's the latest best option for modern replacement 9v AC power supplies for a 1050 readily available in UK?
    • I suspect it would not easily replace the steering module, if at all. The resolution is incredibly low on the spinner. It's very simple in that it has 2 magnets 180 degrees apart that actuate 2 reed switches in succession that tell it which direction it's spinning.
    • First I got the hack and now the original 🤙

    • Well....I was planning on starting to ship Z-80 CP/M boards tomorrow.  More parts came in today and I am soldering them in place.  The first bad news was I accidentally ordered 74LS645's in surface mount as opposed to DIP packages.  🤬  Then, I forgot to order 74HCT04's.  🤬   So, all of that is ordered and more.  First Z-80 CP/M boards should be ready to ship by Monday.  I'll post progress pictures later on today.    More bare boards have been ordered, are finished up, and should be shipped my way within a chinese business day....or whenever DHL picks up.  Then, it takes about 2 to 3 days until the DHL van rolls up.  So, I'll be putting out ten more Z-80 CP/M boards next week sometime.   Thank you all for your support!   🙂
    • In stead of drinking, I think Wild Bill is swimming in a pool of Kool-Aid.   He doesn't even realize he should already have 3 more games according to the roadmap. what's going to be funny is when they get around to updating it they will just change the dates giving it the appearance they are on time. I think Backtalk was originally slated for March iirc.
    • Way back when fbFORTH Vn 2.0 came out, I decided that, since I only use it in 80-column mode I would like an 80-column MENU screen. So, I calculated the text, headers, and gutters and came up with an 80-col display. Reasoning that I might need it at some later time, once it was installed and working, I used BLK>FILE (with HDR turned off) to copy BLOCKs 2 and 3 into a text file. Not being satisfied with the size of the FBLOCKS file (I needed space for future expansion), using MKBFL DSKx.filename n to create a much larger FBLOCKS file on a different drive. I arbitrarily chose 250 blocks as the size which created a 1000 sector FBLOCKS file (4 sectors per block). I changed the FBLOCKS file used with USEBFL DSKx.filename to swap to the new FBLOCKS.   Once that was done, I used CPYBLK to copy the orginial FBLOCKS 1 - 80 to the new FBLOCKS. Then using FILE>BLK, I copied my 80-col MENU backup into block 2 and 3 in the new FBLOCKS file. Since BLOCK block #57 in Vn 3.0 is empty, I edited the last several menu entries by imply typing over the text keeping the line lengths the same. The only menu-display block that I needed to change was BLOCK #3.   Oh yes, if you wish to boot from a drve other than DSK1, simply search for "DSK1" with a hex editor and replace it with your preferred drive (mine boots from DSKD). Here is my 80-col MENU:
