if I don't like the results of a popularity contest, clearly the contest was rigged because there's no way I can lose. Just like my foray into running for prom king back in 1976 (even though I graduated in 1957). It's simply impossible that Joey could have won and not me, therefore the only solution is to ransack the vote counting office. only I can win!!

Did anyone else get an email from JUDGE.ME asking for a review of something from the AtariAge Store?  For all I know Atari is working with this company,  but they asked for a review of something I bought 11 years ago!  (They thought I bought it 14 days ago)  And it is signed  Thanks, The AtariAge Team.  I just want to make sure this isn't some scam...

      3. tkarner

Same here. Asked me to review a purchase I made years ago, claimed the purchase was two weeks ago. Looks like AtariAge was hacked?
      4. Albert

Not a hack, this was an email accidentally sent from the new store we're using.  Judge.me is a plugin that handles reviews (and you'll be able to reply to reviews now, include pictures, and so forth, so it'll be a lot nicer in the new store as far as reviews go).  You can safely ignore the email.

Did you know during the early strips, Jon and Garfield use to smoke? That's right, Jon use to smoke a pipe and Garfield would steal it from Jon to have a puff.

Eventually, Jim Davis ended both of their smoking because it would promote children to consider the habit.

      1. NeonPeon

I did not know that! Did Garfield steal it more than once?
      2. Charlie Cat

@NeonPeon Hi Mark. He did so a few times in the strips. While Jim Davis made Garfield stop first, he let Jon smoke a little bit longer before eventually ending the idea altogether.

    • There are actually a ton of systems that used a similar hardware, even though only the SG-1000 and the MSX got a successor. That being said, I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve here.
    • I meant to say exactly the opposite. Is my English really that bad?
    • Okay, I'll keep this in mind. It's probably good practice to keep things compact, but I don't feel much pressure to squeeze the SG-1000 version of the game into 32K.   Maybe I'll experiment with Pletter in the future, though. You said it doesn't compromise the visuals at all? That's encouraging. How much ROM space can I save using compression? How much time does it take to decompress the visuals?   By the way, I ordered a MIDI cable on Amazon, and plan to dink around with that and my Rock Band keytar when it arrives. I was hoping to have someone else work on the music and sound effects, but it won't hurt for me to experiment a little, and see what I can do myself. People are telling me, "Well, you should try making music yourself!," and I'm just thinking, "Yeah, while I'm at it, I'll solve a quadratic equation and crack the human genome. Sheesh." It's not a talent I possess, is my point. You might as well ask a trout to run a marathon.
    • Necromancing this thread because I'm still getting ideas on what to make for the Speccy platform and I might have the tools to do so. I still hope there is still a community of Speccy enthusiasts around. Anyway, I still also think Atari should get into emulating the Speccy platform by becoming a US distributor of the Spectrum Next at least.
    • Unfortunately, people, I don't know nothing about codes. I've tried searching on the Internet and I don't understand any of the language, the vocabularies of nothing. This is stuff that would take me for 1000 years or for a genius to know this is nuts. So I guess you can say this subject is closed for now because. I can't do nothing about it,.. Thank you for y'all's help.
    • Added a link to Dave's Videogame Journey, a project putting out videos that each cover an entire year of the NES's North American library.   Also updated the first post to note that Jeremy Parish has stopped covering Japanese Game Boy games, allegedly because they're too expensive now and he wants to photograph every game he covers. He'll only cover North American games from now on, but first he's going back and redoing his early Game Boy videos.   (Whether other factors -- like an antipathy to pachinko and horse racing games, not really being equipped to deal with the language barrier, and/or the low clickthrough rate on coverage of obscure/unpopular games -- might play a role in this decision, one can only speculate.)

    • The story of the man who almost accidentally spoiled the US Army plan to eliminate Osama Bin Laden with a tweet, 13 years ago #Today.   With a couple of software projects on the go, Sohaib Athar was making the most of the late-night calm to get some work done.   As his wife and son slept, he heard the whir and chop of rotor blades above the two-story house where they lived. Strange, he thought, for an aircraft to be flying so low over a residential area at this hour. He checked the time: it was well past midnight.   Abbottabad, a former colonial garrison town nestled in the green hills of northern Pakistan, is a small city known for its trees, parks and the country’s top military academy.   Athar and his family moved there in 2009 to get away from the heat, grime and occasional terrorist attacks in Lahore, a traffic-clogged metropolis on the plains of Punjab.   And he didn’t know it then, but with that one sentence, he had become the first person to report on a blockbuster news story that would grip the world.
