    • OLD CS1

The short story: Paramount releases "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" on DVD.  It was apparently mastered by a summer intern using off-the-shelf software, resulting in progressive scans of interlaced sources, not de-interlaced and shit quality.  Two of the discs in the set are unreadable so I resort to alternate methods of acquisition.  I find someone has run the DS9 set through an AI up-scaler to produce a 720p collection in fantastic quality!

Really, Paramount?  Would that have been so difficult for you to do and sell to us at the MSRP of $69.99?
      1. SpiceWare

You might want to pick up the original DVD sets of the individual seasons instead of the crappy complete series.  Doing that solved the ripping problems for me, plus the file size for each episode is 2x larger than from the complete series.  More info here:

      2. OLD CS1

@SpiceWare  Maybe the cheaper mastering is why the complete sets cost less than the individual seasons.  So damned annoying.  I have stayed away from buying individual seasons because I cannot guarantee I can get full sets and it is usually more expensive that way.

I did not have such good luck with "Futurama" or "Family Guy," as well as a couple of other series.  Even the individual seasons of these were encoded poorly.  Plus, the DVD-on-Demand stuff is just garbage, in my experience.  I make full rips of those because I expect the media to die any time.
      3. SoundGammon

On Paramount they are running HD remasters of the earlier seasons of Frasier. They are in 16x9 format and it is basically they just "zoom in" to fill the screen. Not bad, but the sides, all four, and get cut off in the process. Also on cable, one of the channels is running Murder She Wrote using the same technique, easy to tell there because you can see some of the lettering cut off at the bottom where they put in the info of guest stars and writer & director stuff.

How would you classify this game?

      My thoughts:

      1. x=usr(1536)

In some ways, it's reminiscent of the arcade game Hunchback.  Not totally the same, but there are similarities.

Now that I think of it, I can't recall a version of Hunchback making it to the 2600, though just about every other platform from the time seemed to get one.  Hmm.
      2. Intellivision Master

There is a homebrew called Hunchy 2 for the 2600.  Also, there is a 2600 multi-cart with mini games on it.  One of the games is Hunchy. Both the homebrew and the multi-cart are in the AA store.
      3. Living Room Arcade

        Hunchy in the 2005 Mini-Game Multi-Cart

        @batari released the ROM here.
Hunchy is a 2k ROM that punches above it's weight IMO.  Good game!  There is also a hacked version here.

    • hmmm thats tough, i think my list would be huge! But mainly i think i'd say: Licensed: Ghostbusters, Garfield, Alien and i guess technically HERO, Kung Fu Master, Ikari Warriors (?) and Dig Dug for 2600 AFAIK Not Property Licensed: Skateboardin', Air Raiders, Mountain King, Secret Quest for 2600 Licensed: COMMANDO!!!!, Midnight Mutants, Ball-Blazer, Ikari Warriors, Dig Dug(?), Xevious, Tower Toppler for 7800 AFAIK Not Property Licensed: Alien Brigade, BasketBrawl, Dark Chambers, Super Huey, (Im)Possible Mission, Scrapyard Dog, Asteroids, Joust, Centipede for 7800 Homebrew: Klax(?), Rikki and Vikki for 7800 i picked a lot but thats because theres a lot to love in the back catalog but for some, frankly, out-there ideas is maybe some of the (NON PORN) Mature prototypes/games (aside from i guess Alien Brigade) like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Bloody Human Freeway or Halloween on 2600 would be funny to me to release, mainly because i find the idea of an Atari 2600 game getting a T for Teen or especially an M for Mature rating to be hilarious, but a few interesting "NEW games" that would be interesting to see are finished versions of some of the late 7800 ports from the early 90's like Pit-Fighter or Toki, and also if there was a fixed version of Karateka for 7800 that would be nice... But more than anything, if they were mad enough to get the unreleased Rescue on Fractalus 7800 finished... that would bring a tear to my eye, and to my wallet...
    • I don't want to contradict sreid, but my micrometer measures .699" from start of 1st pin to start of 15th, so .699/14 = .0499" pitch.  I think .05 should work.
    • Right... so, I'm asking, what is the added cost for that?
    • Captain TOM. (Cue cease and desist from Adult Swim)
    • Of course, the body she's inside is referred to as a guy in the manual...   Anyway, taking fan stories for games into account, there are some games in my Robot Force series where you play as solely RUBY. They are: Communist Mutants from Space, Galaxian, Killer Satellites, and Plaque Attack. I'm not counting games where both DAN and RUBY are playable.
    • Lol! I don’t believe anyone in like the USA are complaining about 99% of games working. What some were complaining about was an official compatibility list on the official Atari website confirming games worked that actually didn’t. With the firmware update it’s now at 99%. Jeez!   Hopefully you get your system updated soon because this is a great system!
    • I forgot to mention that! Atari and new wave clicked together (though I miss when disco and video games clicked together. P O N G)
    • Tried Kangaroo straight over S-Video on my VIZIO monitor and red lines are still quite visible. I also did a quick standard definition capture to make sure this was attributable to my monitor, and it wasn't.     Funny thing is, when I looked at examples on YouTube they were all over the map as far as color was concerned. But I did find one that is very similar to what I'm seeing (3rd one down).     Going back to HDMI output with the RetroScaler 2x, and playing it for a bit, didn't reveal any other issues.
    • Heya!   I'm very happy (and surprised) by the results, and I'm glad several people enjoyed the game! I'm very honored to see my game ranked on the #2 place considering all the other great entries submitted.   At first, my preference for the winner was going towards Canyon Escape as the game is fast-paced, fun to play, offer gorgeous visuals, and has a wonderful title screen (congrats @YannAros). But I actually found myself (re)playing "The Blob" more, and voting for it. There is some kind of perfect balance in this game. It’s challenging enough that it makes you think and try to plan your moves in advance, but it’s also a game that an average player (like me) can win with several tries. The core concept is great, and fits perfectly with the Intellivision controller :). So kudos to @Peripheral for making such a great game.   I’d also like to mention Chippi, as it’s arguably the most technically impressive entry, and by far. I never thought it would be possible to write an emulator running on the Intellivision, so my hats off to @decle for making it a reality!   And I’d also like to thanks and congratulate all the others participants, as in the end, I had fun playing all the games.   I'm also very happy to see that more than 40 people took the time to play the game and rate them, thanks for participating in the contest. I also loved the player feedback on the forums and through the Streaming / Youtube shows, it was wonderful, there is a good community here :). Last but not least, huge thanks to @nanochess for running this competition! I love how you managed to "slice" the 3 prizes spots to rewards 5 entries. I think it's the perfect illustration of the "friendliness" of this event, where the main goal is to have fun making and playing new games for the Intellivision.   On my end, it was my first experience working for this machine, and I had a blast! IntyBasic is very powerful and easy to use, and it's very fun to think how to use the 8 sprites and 64 background tiles to make the Intellivision display on screen what you have in mind.   I'll now work on fixing / enhancing / polishing Sheep It Up! to release a new version here, but I'm also looking forward making other games for the Intellivision in the future, as it's a very interesting machine to work with!
