If you're a Fantasy fan,  You're really hoping for Lord of the Rings with every new movie or series,  but you're usually given another Eragon.  **Sigh**  I will say Fantasy right now is probably where Sci Fi was in about 1980... There's a lot of room left to progress,  and new things to try!

Another of Jon Arbuckle's unforgettable dates is his life. On November 19 to December 1, 1990, Jon was tired of being lonely and wanted to explore the possibility of locating single women in a more upscale environment. So after reading an ad in the local newspaper, he and Garfield signed up for pottery class.

It was there Jon met a girl by the name of Kimmy. Kimmy at first is nice, approachable, and welcoming to Jon. In fact, she's the only women that actually wanted Jon to voluntarily request a date by him. But Kimmy isn't your typical young woman. She was raised my wolves and was brought into civilization in a matter of a few days after meeting Jon. From then on, the date went completely haywire. It was his least favorable dates of all time. However, it turns out that Kimmy is only one of three women that likes Jon. The other too are Liz Wilson and Bertha.

Interestingly enough, The Jon & Kimmy courting series is Jim Davis's favorite of all the abnormal relationships that Arbuckle had in his life. Even more then the Bertha series that I posted a few days ago.

Like Bertha, Kimmy was brought up years later in a Sunday strip. Jon was mentioning to Garfield that he was depressed again and desperately wanting to seek a relationship. So he decided to give Kimmy a call....and he did.

Here's the strips for all to enjoy and have a good laugh.

I've had one of those dates.   And yes she was kinda hot at the same time, and my prospects were few.  Was rrreeeaallly tempting to keep dating just because.  LOL

Nintendo is like eating at a 5 star restaurant with dogshit service.

You walk in and the food is exquisite — some of the best meals you've ever had in your entire life. They are the types of cuisines you'll always remember, and you'll feel nostalgic of looking back.

However, the waitresses yell at you, spit on your food, berate you, and if you don't drink out of the restaurants' own glasses and eat off their own plates, they force you to comply or you get kicked out.

@Chris+++ I don't know why, but in their defense, Apple doesn't use that many underhanded methods to keep their customers loyal and they've mostly acknowledged that they're a luxury brand, unlike Nintendo (who really wants the Switch to be a common household item for some reason). The worst thing about Apple has done that I can think of right now is their past attempts to worm their way around European privacy and universal compliance laws, much like Google and Meta iirc. I still don't like Apple as a company, but they're the only major tech company that backs ARM as anything besides just a smart device ting, besides Raspberry Pi of course...and I think Raspberry Pi has better service than Apple. XD
      3. carlsson

One difference is that Apple's beverages are not compatible with regular glasses anyway, so it makes no point in bringing your own.

Which real life restaurant lets you bring your own glasses and plates by the way? Can you bring your own to self-service drink dispensers at McDonald's?
      4. GoldLeader

Whaaat???  Carlsson,  I think that medication is more powerful than you realize.
      5. r_chase

Some gas station C-Stores here in America allow you to bring your own glass, even when they already have paper cups near the soda fountain. In any case, Nintendo is abusing international copyright law and it's all thanks to Disney for paving the way for aggressive copyright defense measures. lmao

    • Well, it's final time to start on my New Year's Resolution for 2024 and program my first bB from scratch.   I joined the forum a little over two years ago and came out with my first (and only!) hack over the course of that first year thanks to the excellent line by line annotation in the Pitfall disassembly and the help of others here on the forum as I stumbled my way through it.   I've mainly been following the progress of others since then trying to pick up various bits of knowledge and doing the equivalent of preproduction (concept design, layout, sprites, etc) but without ever taking that next big step into actual programming until now.    The first three video games I remember playing as a kid (outside of the arcade) are checkers, The Oregon Trail, and Kareteka on the Apple II for the one hour of computer class at school and another hour once a month on a Saturday on the local library's computer.  I was surprised to see that Karateka had never had a port to the system and decided that a game inspired equally by that game and old Samurai movies would be my goal in my first homebrew attempt using Batari Basic.  I wasn't sure if I was going to do a game like Double Dragon where you could go up and down on a limited set of Y coordinates or just have everything on a single line (excluding jumps) like with Kung Fu Master.   I couldn't really think of a controller scheme compatible with the single button cx40 where you could travel up and down the screeen on the Y axis without resorting to mutidirection/button combos to accomplish actions like jumping as I'm not generally a fan of those on the 2600.   As a bit of a compromise, I decided that the player would be limited generally to just a single plane (except for jumping) but that enemies could move and potentially attack from others.     Next up, I created a simple pair of mockup sprites which I then cut and pasted them into a crude MSPaint image to just get a general working concept.   I then went to work on the rest of the multicolor sprites for various actions I thought I might need like low/high attack and block, jump, crouch, and a static "hero" pose expecting to use the ball as the sword.   Karateka has alot of empty space on the top of the screen so I decided to incorporate that asthetic as well both for a more letterbox asthetic style as as to shrink the size of the rows since I'd be using the blank lines option on the bB basic kernel as I need at least one missile.   I did a quick mockup of various aspect ratios to just visualize what they might look like; admittedly, this would never be entirely accurate given that I have no original hardware nor any way of currently playing ROMs on my old 4:3 CRTs either but it might give me a starting point.  I was drawn to the look of 2.35:1 the most and did some a further test with MSPaint to see how the potential chunky playfield blocks might work on that ratio.   While I like the look, it felt potentially too limiting as I'd have difficulty incorporating the enemy movement/attacks on different heights and also because I had no clue if it would look too narrow on actual 4:3 CRTs so I decided instead to shoot for a 16:9 look on a 4:3 screen similar to watching widescreen DVDs in the 90s on a CRT.
    • Well I got onto the myti99.com website with my TI99 for the first time in my history of owning TI99's, I was trying to help a friend get on and checked out Stuart's instruction on his webpage and got it to work first time. I'm cool with that.
    • I will always be grateful for having my games on this list, for me it is an honor to have my work gain recognition, and several Atari players play them.
    • Course 1 - It's been a few years since I played this game. Forgot how bad the controls were.... 🥵     89 Seconds - Got it in just under 90 Seconds for Course 3 Qualification... 😁
