MegaManFan
If you've been pawing through bins of games like I have hoping to come across one of these.. http://www.atariage.com/cart_page.html?Sof...wareLabelID=139 Stop wasting your time. I just found out from a very reliable source that the diagnostic carts NEVER HAD THIS LABEL. They either came with no label or in a Video Olympics case. In other words, you like me may have passed over a 100 Video Olympics carts not realizing one of them might ACTUALLY have been the diagnostic cart. How :x FRUSTRATING! Tempest
Yes I believe Best Electronics put that label on. I've seen the VO version before, it had a little handwriten tape label that said DOM x.x (forget the number) on it. I also have a diagnostic cart EPROM that says DOM on it. CPUWIZ
Yep and the mask ROM has the version number on it. This also reminds me that the Kluge cart is not in the database.

Xot
Why Atlantis and Space Chase? On the 1 in 47 million chance that it's a monogrammed Space Chase or Atlantis II.

How could you tell if it was one of these?....pawing through a box of extras....... You would have to plug them in and play them AFAIK. Atlantis II had the night scene label, but so did plenty of Atlantis carts: http://www.atariage.com/cart_page.html?Sof...areLabelID=1037 http://www.atariage.com/cart_page.html?Sof...areLabelID=1040 I don't know too much about Space Chase, but there was a thread about it a while back if you are good with the search feature. With Atlantis II, there, obviously, are no instructions. Has anyone played Atlantis II to be able to describe the difference? There's a snowball's chance in hell that I have one but now I'm curious!

The ships are much faster and scores are much lower because the point values are different. If you look closely at the screenshots (if there are screenshots of both scoreboards) you will notice a slight difference between the two. Atlantis II was a contest, not really a game per se. Rob Mitchell
The three Atari Salt Diagnostic Test Carts 2.6 that I have seen and held each have a dot matrix printed label on yellow paper and taped over a common cart label. My personal DTC 2.6 is in a Sky Diver cart. .. but others have theirs in Circus Atari carts. Hey Al .. How about scanning that cart I sent you? Also I have never seen the pinout of the "blue controller port plugs" that came with this cart. I know someone who has them .. I should email him so I can get this documented. Rob Mitchell
Yes, I have the whole service manual, including several different notes taken by technicians. So what does your cart look like? Want to take a pic of the bule plugs and diagram the pin wiring. And take a pic of the bar screen according to the way it is supposed to look when the plugs are in place and the switches are thrown the certain way? CPUWIZ
The carts in the picture above are all mine. One of my blue plugs is broken though and they are glued shut so I have not bothered to reverse engineer the wireing. I may do that tommorow. Chuck Gill
Here's mine, the blue shorting plugs are more black than blue. The Diag cart has MAO17600 hand written on a label on the back, the signal tracing cart only has the white label on the front. The book is complete with all the revision notes too. I've used this quite a bit it's come in handy over the years. Chuck

Oh I do like those white labels better than the dot matrix printed yellow paper labels. I forgot about the STC .. Has anyone dumped the Signal Tracing Cart yet? And I've never seen a complete scan of the service manual. Anyone know where that could be? Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
CPUWIZ
The STC or Kluge cart does not contain a ROM, it is just a PCB with resistors wired to output $EA (NOP) on the databus constantly so the processor will infinately loop through memory. All the address lines are left floating on that cart.
Vernoman
If you've been pawing through bins of games like I have hoping to come across one of these.. Where are these infamous "bins"? I'm so jealous of everyone who keeps talking about finding atari stuff everywhere. I live in South Texas, and can't find Atari stuff anywhere. I've been to Pawn Shops, Thrift stores, Salvation army, Goodwill, etc. The only thing I've found after visiting about 30 different stores is a box with 4 cheesy games in it. Not even worth the time. Oh well, guess I'll just have to keep shoppin' on eBay!
video game addict
I guess I'll be buying every 'Video Olympics' I see...just like 'Atlantis'. 409309[/snapback] Bumping an old thread, I thought this was pretty funny though.. I've now found Atlantis II, Kluge (STC) & the diagnostic v2.6 for peanuts on ebay.. Guess now I need to start buying all the Spacechases I run across.
