Super Mario Clone being written now

The only people knowing your scheme could be you and the board manufacture.

I think I won't make a real cartridge. It's a hell of a job that I can't do alone (same as double video upgrade).

Your work looks great and I can't wait to see a demo.

Well I've made a demo already in turbobasic. It's a spinoff that I called the smp-demo. You can download it in this thread: (only one difference: it has colorchanges by DLI and no scrolling).

...and, Sheddy, I'll save the scrolling MCS for the supergame for 1mbyte flashcart. The technique needs some more RAM that I can't make free for my mario clone (oneloader!), and it's still in development. I can make the MCS scrolling routines much faster (it needs many wasted Wsyncs), but it'll take some time to develop.

I opened this thread, but didn't read anything about a Mario clone. Can you please post the file here? I also remember playing the German Bros clone. Thanks, Cal

Hmm,

afaik Analmux left this forum (and maybe also left the A8 scene)...

But hey, if you read this analmux: Please, why not finish SMB3 and let`s say, release it for the ABBUC software contest 2006 ?!? It would be a shame not to finish such a great program...  -Andreas.

  • 2 months later...

the news is that there is no news at all.

like i said i still don't have any plans to give E.T.A.'s or something. it's still a lifeless project.

...but i'll let all of A.A. members know as soon as it's finished, no more updates till that very moment.

Really, the last surprise of the great 2006 year. A great year for Atari!

This game really impressed me, excellent use of DLIs, fonts, sprites. And cool! special effects. If someone thinked Carvenia is cool, this game rooocksss!!!!

At the first post, I thinked you have posted a screenshot of MSX game. At the second post I cant believe was an Atari game.

Who are the programmers?

Absolutely great

Now what I really, really hope is that the programmers make this a BIG game with enough levels for a real challenge. I've yet to see a program on the Atari that has as much lasting appeal as some of the late C64 titles (Mayhem, First Samurai, Turrican...). If Crownland only has four or five levels, I'm afraid it won't be interesting and just another disappointment... Now if it has four worlds with four levels each, that'll be something!

Playability is excellent. It seems the programmers worked hard on designing very nice levels :)

This is a FUN program, unlike the flat and insipid Wloczykij.

I'm sure Crownland is the result of evolution in programming. Wloczykij is a funny and pretty game too. Software as this, costs a great effort for a programmer, and could be technical source of inspiration for better future developments like Crownland.

I must admit, that I like what I see :-)

Even the control of the protagonist is very smooth and the animations are smooth aswell.

(anyone recognizes the really nice water animation? )

If the coder read this:

Please make the scoreboard hires.

Music sounds ok. Even if I cannot imagine using the "C" or "E" generator for making nice melodies.

The only doubts I have, are about the "more enemies" in the higher level.

But I always like to be surprised :-)
