So... will the question ever be answered if there will be any more of these sold? I would have bought one right off the bat had I known about it.. but alas I don't read every thread and missed this one :(

I will make more, but not in the very near future. The best you can do is to contact Albert and join the waiting list. The number of new devices will also depend on how many people are on that list.

I know that quite some people are waiting for more devices, but unfortunately I am not able to give you a date, yet

Just a guess, but would the 7800 checking stuff around $FFF9 or so to identify a 7800 cart cause a game selection?

No, that can not cause a problem. The ROM selection is not done by accessing these locations. The ROM selection hotspot is $3F in multicart mode.

I have asked this question before, but could you please connect an external power supply to the Krokodile and watch if the behaviour is changed somehow ?

I will watch e-bay a little. Maybe I can get a cheap 7800 :D I feel better if it doesn't matter in case I destroy it.

Will do when I get home.

As an update, I plugged in the 2600 power supply into the KK, then I ran the 7800. Same result, played last game on the list, in mine, is Vault Assault.

I bought a 7800 on e-bay yesterday. I hope it works and maybe I can find out what the problem is on the 7800 :)

Power supplies are usually faulty, so watch it.

However, you can cut the 7800 ps cord and rewire it to something similar in voltage and amperage, as the 7800 has its own propriatary connector.

I got a question. The multicart does not work on the Atari 7800. It works in single cart mode fine though. Is there a way you can update it so it can work on it? or is it just the 7800 being picky and won't run the menu.

EDIT: The problem, is that it does not show the menu at all. It automatically plays the last game in the menu.

I finally got around to trying the KC with my 7800, and I'm seeing much the same thing when attempting to use it with an MC download. Though for me it seems to always load the rom in slot 1 instead of showing the menu. Single rom downloads work fine.

Same results with AC adapter plugged in.

I still haven't gotten mine yet either. But I'm sure it'll happen someday.

Nathan, did you get your AtariVox yet ?

Nope, but that's okay, since Man Goes Down hasn't been released yet anyway. ;)

I plan to order that KK cartige.. I guest I will have to wait a little. But I still have a question .. With that Krokodile Commander software you can load your cartige by choosing only games that you want ?? Is this that simple ?

"Using the provided Windows software, you can directly download Atari 2600 ROM images to the cartridge. In addition to downloading a single ROM binary, the cartridge can be used as a multicart. It can store up to 127 games (4K) which can be selected with a built-in menu system. Bankswitched multicarts are also supported, allowing you to create F8 (8K), F6 (16K) and F4 (32K) bankswitched multicarts. The multicarts can be created with the Krokodile Commander software. You can easily select which games you want to have on the cartridge and once you've made your selections you can download the created multicart image to the Krokodile Cartridge."

thanks for info !!

Does anybody think about creating à NEW KK cartige version of 256 games ?!?

the 16k multicart has some strange problems.

For example: Jr. Pac-Man works perfect as a single rom. But, it loads wrong as a multicart.

Other things I found: Midnight Magic actually runs a tad slower than the original. Yes I have the original to test it out. Works fine as a single rom but once again, as a multicart, it runs slower.

Anyone else run into problems like this?

854721

I'm having similar problems with a KC sent to me by another AA member for programming (I guess he either doesn't have access to a Windows box with RS232 port, or the time to figure out how to work it.)

My first attempt at a full F8 multicart came up with a verify error in sector 909 or something like that but after a couple of retries it verified correctly.

But, I can't get Congo Bongo or Sir Lancelot to work. I tried Congo Bongo as a single and it worked on the 2nd or 3rd try. I can not get Sir Lancelot to work at all, either as a single or in a multicart. EDIT: Sir Lancelot problem solved, see below.

Some other minor issues:

When building a multicart, the Krokodile Commander software allows (illegal?) characters such as "'", ".", "!" and "*" to be entered in the Menu Name, but these show up as spaces in the menu when using the cart. If you're not going to program actual characters for these, you should make the software disallow them.

Also under the Multicart tab, there is a button to "Load all files from selected directory", which only loads 5 F8 ROMs of the 63 files in the directory I'm working on (all of which are either 4K or F8).

Finally, the circuit board and its built-in "keys" are slightly too long; the keys extend beyond the end of the cart case a bit, so they could be vulnerable to accidental breakage.

I hear that some Sir Lancelot binaries are bad dumps - the emulator authors had to write special code so that this game worked.

The problem was that both banks contain the same reset vector for startup but only one bank actually points to a valid routine, so the emus always start in the good bank.

Edit: Just checked, and found I have a good and a bad dump of Sir Lancelot - I've attached the good dump here.

Both for Congo Bongo and for Sir Lancelot, there are bad dumps out there. I have added a "Bad Dump List" to the Krokodile Commander. If you select such a Dump, it will display a warning. Currently only the two mentioned dumps are on the list. I will add any bad dumps that I come across in future Commander revisions.

When building a multicart, the Krokodile Commander software allows (illegal?) characters such as "'", ".", "!" and "*" to be entered in the Menu Name

Should be fixed in revision 1.06

DO NOT drive over it with your car please :D . Its not designed for things like that. If you use it normally, the teeth will not get damaged. But if I should ever make a redesign, I can assure you it will fit in a cart case with almost no modifications and it will not have teeth.

Here is the latest Revision: Krokodile Cartridge Website

If you are interested, all changes are described in the revision history.

Wow, that was fast! Thanks, Armin!

FYI @ the Als & any moderator with ability to make changes to the site: Both the Congo Bongo and Sir Lancelot bad dumps that I got, came from the AA files thru the Rarity Guide. The Sir Lancelot linked a couple posts up from this one is a good dump.

Now I just need a good Congo Bongo dump and I'll be set.

No such thing. :|

I'd dump Congo Bongo myself, but not right now, I am in the middle of designing some PSP skinning tricks for work. ;)

If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll try to do it tomorrow.

I do not own the game so I cannot dump it, but I can do a dirty hack of the existing dump so it will work on the KC... Or at least I think it will...

Enjoy, if it works, that is :)

Though if anyone wants to dump it correctly please do, it's probably better than my dirty hack.

PLEASE!! Add me.. I'd definately like to buy this. Looks like a dream come true.

992638

I have ordered new PCBs and I think that I can start building new devices mid of January :D

992689

Are you making just enough to fill the existing backorders, or do I have time to get on the list? Should we order it from the AtariAge store and pay now so we'll be sent one once they're ready, or how does that work?
