Ah, the joy of blowing poison gas up a monkey's ass.

DK3 is one of those games which is best forgotten.

Ooooh yes There There.... I completely forgot the poison gas up the ass episode you mentioned happened to you as a child, I don't blame you for wanting to forget.

I think that might have been an episode of ATHF.

Are you referring to The Broodwich? That's a classic episode... I love the guy in the alternate dimension with the axe talking about the way moonlight hits his severed head collection.

I voted for Donkey Kong 3.

Mainly because I always liked that game....and I already had a mock screen I made in 2003.

That looks awesome, I really hope some of these ideas get made at some point....So far Vdub_Bobby is my only hope :D

/me pokes Bobby with a stick

Hows progress?

I'd be interested in seeing a Megaman port. Basically it'd be 5 levels four robot master levels and a wiley level. Each level would be 3 screens. basically 2 screens of ladder action while avoiding and shooting enemies, maybe an elevator or 2, and the final screen would be the robot master. Weapon weaknesses would of course still be part of the game. Just a thought.

Haven't worked on it since...I think since I last posted a binary. Working on other stuff right now. ;) I'll probably return to Metroid at some point, but don't hold your breath. :)

Just realized that, er, actually I *did* do a little more work on this since I last posted a binary.

Here's the latest (from, uh, March 3rd...): Metroid20060303.bin

Changes:

Music! (choose with SELECT)

(Horizontal) Scrolling!

And, uh, that's pretty much it.

:)

EDIT: Oh yeah, just noticed! Major change: Now 32K (big jump from 4K! :o)

Oh yeah. Stella doesn't like how I bankswitch, so use a Cuttle Cart (tested) or z26 (tested) or a Krokodile Cart (untested) or burn your own (untested). :D But no Stella, sorry. :(

I'll try to test it on my new Krok Cart soon. :)

What bankswitching method is being used? Is it a new method that Stella doesn't support, or a current one that just isn't working correctly?

Sorry, I was being vague. We've talked about this before, either on the forums somewhere or on the [stella] list - the issue is with how Stella handles the BRK opcode when the stack pointer is (or isn't? can't remember) $FF. Or something like that. My bankswitching routine is called with a BRK opcode.

But, batari found (see my blog) that if you start the binary in Stella, enter the debugger, type reset, then exit the debugger, it runs fine. Weird! So you can run it in Stella that way.
