That a very comprehensive SegaAges line-up of classic Super Scalers, never turned up on Switch is something I hope Sega rectify on Switch 2. Something akin to the full line-up on the japanese 3DS/2DS and with a few others, that’d be cool. (I’ve also wondered if the Evercade is much more the real target market for such collection as we’re now speaking 2024/25 concerning such possibilities).
      1. r_chase

Yeah, I do hope FPGA takes off more than ever tbh. Especially in the context of 8-bit computers as well. After all, fun fact: the Spectrum Next and its clones are FPGA iirc.

Wonder if there will be an Ace Ventura 3? 🤔 Jim Carrey has to reprise his role thou...

Anything's possible but I think the studio would make him tame it down quite a bit. you think a bit about a guy going undercover as a mentally disabled person would fly in 2024? right
      2. bent_pin

I'd watch it, but I agree that the comedy of the age probably wouldn't fly today. Would be cool if it was his kid or something, and he had a smaller part in it.

If you're a Fantasy fan,  You're really hoping for Lord of the Rings with every new movie or series,  but you're usually given another Eragon.  **Sigh**  I will say Fantasy right now is probably where Sci Fi was in about 1980... There's a lot of room left to progress,  and new things to try!

No problem...and remember to be weary of that giant-arse hole in the middle of the sea. It's got...something as it draws people to it with potential artifacts, riches, and God only knows what else. You can barely look away. Even worse...well...I'll not spoil too much, but let's say it's got a curse.
      3. dudeguy

There will never be another Lord of the Rings, or anything close to it. Those films come along once every hundred years
      4. r_chase

@dudeguy That's not exactly what I'm saying. I'm suggesting that if you want something that involves world-building almost to the scale of LotR (this especially includes the prequel children's book), then you gotta look for it...even if it happens to be a manga or anime.
      5. shane857

They tried it on amazon prime with Rings of power...I couldn't watch it after 5 minutes. Like watching game of thrones and house of the dragon. Complete sh*t, in my opinion.
      6. r_chase

On the topic of streaming services and anime and all that, I've heard good things about the live-action One Piece adaptation, albeit it being somewhat watered down compared to the doorstopper manga and anime. Here's to a thousand more episodes until it's over, I really hope the live-action show doesn't last that long though.

Another of Jon Arbuckle's unforgettable dates is his life. On November 19 to December 1, 1990, Jon was tired of being lonely and wanted to explore the possibility of locating single women in a more upscale environment. So after reading an ad in the local newspaper, he and Garfield signed up for pottery class.

It was there Jon met a girl by the name of Kimmy. Kimmy at first is nice, approachable, and welcoming to Jon. In fact, she's the only women that actually wanted Jon to voluntarily request a date by him. But Kimmy isn't your typical young woman. She was raised my wolves and was brought into civilization in a matter of a few days after meeting Jon. From then on, the date went completely haywire. It was his least favorable dates of all time. However, it turns out that Kimmy is only one of three women that likes Jon. The other too are Liz Wilson and Bertha.

Interestingly enough, The Jon & Kimmy courting series is Jim Davis's favorite of all the abnormal relationships that Arbuckle had in his life. Even more then the Bertha series that I posted a few days ago.

Like Bertha, Kimmy was brought up years later in a Sunday strip. Jon was mentioning to Garfield that he was depressed again and desperately wanting to seek a relationship. So he decided to give Kimmy a call....and he did.

Here's the strips for all to enjoy and have a good laugh.

I've had one of those dates.   And yes she was kinda hot at the same time, and my prospects were few.  Was rrreeeaallly tempting to keep dating just because.  LOL

As they say:   Sane, available, hot.  Pick two.
      2. NeonPeon

Thanks for being AtariAge's Garfield historian, @Charlie Cat! 😄
      3. GoldLeader

@doctorclu That's Classic!  I bet we all pick Hot to start with and then go, "Wait a minute!"
      4. doctorclu

Dang, Jon was considering Kimmy 14 years later!!   (1990 to 2004)

No other appearances.  A crying shame, she's a lot of fun (to watch from the sidelines).

Also when that search for additional info failed, fun fact that no one asked for: I couldn't find any Rule34 on Kimmy.  A woman that acts like a wolf and half nuts?  That's like a poster child for that place.  I'm disappointed in you Rule34 community, you failed.

    • I've been spoiled, writing and debugging TI-99/4A Assembler Code in Classic99, but I'm having problems getting the Editor/Assembler Debugger to properly work on actual TI-99/4A.  After setting breakpoints, I think the system is supposed to return to the DEBUGGER, but it just stops running and appears frozen.  I need to power cycle the TI-99/4A when it hits a breakpoint.  Does anyone have any tips, tricks, links or tutorials for running the EA Debugger on actual TI-99/4A hardware?  Thank you!
    • The Sailor Moon series of beat em up games are my most favorite of the genre! Especially love the arcade versions.   Also lately been really into the Jackie Chan series of fighting games like Fists of Fire.
    • 3 or 4 people managed to find and "star" this repo on Github, even though I've never posted information about it in any public thread. With version 1.4, I think that it is stable enough that I may as well let a larger audience know about it here.   https://github.com/bkrug/TI-string-buffer https://github.com/bkrug/TI-string-buffer/releases   TI-string-buffer is an assembly language library that I wrote to manage dynamically allocated memory. It let's you reserve one buffer of memory in RAM for dynamic purposes, and it keeps track of which portions of the buffer are currently reserved or free. There is a routine to specify how many bytes you wish to reserve, and it will return the address where it choose to place that reservation. Previously reserved blocks can be de-allocated, shrunk, or grown. When you grow a previously allocated block, it might need to move the block, but it returns the new address to you. Routines that allocate more memory will set the EQU status bit when they can't find enough free space for the requested allocation.   There are also routines for creating and editing arrays. Arrays will always be made of of elements that are of equal length. You can initialize arrays such that their elements have a length that is some power of 2. 2 bytes is the minimum. For more information, see the README file in the git repo.   Currently TI-string-buffer is used by the EmuWriter program I've been writing. (https://forums.atariage.com/topic/356969-emuwriter-a-homebrew-word-processor/).

    • You should really use SR1 for this, since you don't know if you have an F18A yet.   I think I know why use used bits >E0 of SR1 for the F18A, so those will remain constant.  For any releases going forward the three zero bits >1C will contain the F18A type, i.e. MK0, MK1, MK2.     I cannot promise I won't go over V1F, but once the MK2 is ready the version for all F18As will change to V2.0.     For the sprite number in SR0 bits >1F, the real 9918A (and F18A) will retain whatever was the highest processed sprite on a line which will depend on:   1. If the >D0 byte is set in the sprite table to stop sprite processing at a certain value. 2. If five or more sprites are on a line during the frame.   Keep in mind that the sprite number is only valid if the 5S flag is set.  IIRC the sprite number has been characterized to follow the sprite counter unless the 5S flag gets set, at which point it always retains the 5th sprite number until SR0 is read.  So, it is possible that the value is always >1F depending on what happens during the frame, but I don't remember if it gets cleared when reading SR0 (I don't think it does).
