Atari 5200 AV mod and 2600 VCS Adapter Question..

As you can see in the title, I have modded my Atari 5200 to use both S-video and AV with the 8bit domain circuitry. I already knew that my VCS adapter would not work after this, but is there a way to get both working? Or does having a AV mod just shut down the option of using the VCS adapter. I looked all through these forums and I did not see anything on this.

Thank you

I believe one is different than the other. If you do a search on here or the Net there are instructions to do it.

You can still use the RF hookup to play the VCS adapter. Both can be hooked up at once, just tune to channel 3 when you pop the adapter in.

Yea, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the AV mod. I wish there was a way to use it on both.

Thanks

You could AV mod the 2600 adapter, but then you'd have two sets of cords to fiddle with. I personally just use an AV modded 2600 for those games.

I give up. I just purchased an Atari 7800 and I am going to mod it. Plus it plays 2600 games.

8bitdomain was offering this but I dont think he delivered any despite some people putting the money up front

Yea, I remember that lol! I saw that some people actually put up over a 100 dollars for that fake adapter.

Is the 5200 mod from 8bitdomain real, or is that fake, too? I'd like to buy one, but I'm not sure the place is legit, based on what you're saying.

Real. Many people have it here on AA and it is excellent. I like it better than the 7800 because there is no soldering and you can easily move it from one 5200 to another if your 5200 dies.

Thank you!

If you can solder a few leads, with real easy to follow instructions get the Longhorn Engineer mod, it comes with s-video socket as well, unlike the 8bit domain one that needs an adapter to use a standard s-video cable

Like who? That pic can be easily shot. The 7800 controllers can fit into the 2600 ports on the vcs adapter on the 5200. The 7800 motherboard does not fit in that VCS T-adapter for the 5200. I doubt he made a completely new mother board for the 7800 to fit in that VCS adapter. As I recall looking at the forum.....nobody has received one. As a matter of fact everybody that post on there was pissed. If you have one then record it working and post on youtube. You could be the 8bit -domain guy for all I know.

The AV signal is good on my highdef flat screen. But when I use S-video I have these scanlines that run up an down in between solid colors. Is there something wrong with my s-video mod or is it because of my flatscreen? I do set it to 4:3 so its not on flatscreen but full screen.
