badenoughdude
Hello everyone. I found a schematic to execute this modification (http://www.atariage.com/2600/archives/nes_atari.html?SystemID=2600), and followed it down to the letter. My problem came about when I reached step 6: "Solder two 1/4w, 620 OHM resistors in place of R1 and R2. (Resistors from the Atari joypad may be used)." According to his diagram, they should be placed to the upper left of where the 16-pin chip was located. There is nothing there on my controller. I guess my question can be as simple as: does the controller absolutely HAVE to be an NES-004E (I used an NES-004)? As it is put together now, the d-pad works perfectly with all of the Atari games I tried, but the A and B buttons are not working. I assume that the lack of resistors has something to do with the buttons not working? Whatever help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Prodos8
The NES-004 is laid out differently as it doesn't have those descrete resistors. Here's a link that shows how to convert it (or the NES-004E) to two-button 7800: http://www.geocities.com/gjp57/nes-7800.txt The NES-004E is european/pal so you don't see them in the US/North America.
