+atari2600land
I have become enthralled in this. There is no rarity info in either AtariAge or AtariMania, maybe someone knows how rare this is? Also, would this work in an NTSC 2600? Cuz I want one.
Rom Hunter
Are you talking about the cartridge or the handheld? According to Marco: There's two versions of the MegaBoy cart, the pack-in and one that was sold separately. Of the latter, dozens (maybe even 100-200) of these were found and sold a couple of years ago, all brand new (shrinkwrapped) in box. That one's worth $50, a complete system (boxed with all pack-in goodies) is worth around $200. Edited July 2, 2008 by Rom Hunter
mimo
I believe that they are rare even in Brazil, also Brazil used PAL M tv standard (PAL 60HZ) so I doubt that it will work on any standard NTSC set up

It counts 262 scanlines during play.

+atari2600land
I am talking about the cart. I didn't know what you meant by console (I didn't know there was a console that went with it.)
LS_Dracon
The carts are ntsc, run fine in ntsc consoles, but the console (handheld) is PAL-M, 262 scanlines with pal colors, so will work in ntsc tv with wrong colors information (like a PAL game in NTSC tv) but no screen roll, probably. +atari2600land
So, can you burn 64k ROMs onto a cart? Cuz I'd pay to have a repro of this.

This is an excellent point that I think a lot of people don't realize. PAL-M 2600 consoles are designed to play NTSC carts. When people talk about PAL-M 2600 carts I don't think they realize that there is no such thing. For the 2600 you have NTSC and PAL (OK and a handful of SECAM) carts, that's it. Crazy Climber
Megaboy ROM, not sure which one, don't really do emulation http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43024
Captain Beard
Not sure if it's worth your while to pay someone to make a repro (if it's even possible) as these show up on eBay a couple times a year and don't usually sell for all that much. I think I paid around $40 for mine and I don't recall there being too much action in the auction (try saying that 10 times really fast!) +atari2600land
I don't do eBay. Plus, I don't want the hassle of dealing with someone who'd probably live in Brazil, seeing as how I'm in the United States.

Fair enough on both counts, although I can't say I've ever had any trouble dealing with the good folks in Brazil. Slow shipping, to be sure, but otherwise, no hassles. +batari
So, can you burn 64k ROMs onto a cart? Cuz I'd pay to have a repro of this. It should be fairly simple to convert it to run on the X07 boards, then maybe Al could make you a copy (assuming he still has some of the boards.) I'll look into it. Dino
One of the most undervalued titles IMHO. Would be worth x5 at least if it were a North American release.

It works in Stella, however, it does not detect the bankswitch type properly and must be manually set, and the screen height is wrong (I set it to 220, otherwise you get some glitching.)megaboy_x07.bin

No, I think that flashing is from Stella incorrectly detecting the screen height, and you wouldn't see it on a TV.
+batari
It occurred to be that Kroko cart users might like to play this on real hardware, so I've also converted it to EF. Enjoy. Oh, and in case anyone is interested, Megaboy appears to do a CRC-8 check of the entire cart ROM to see if it's been hacked, which I think it pretty unique (but easy to disable, otherwise you wouldn't be playing it ) megaboyEF.bin

It isn't autodetected since there's currently no autodetection code at all for X07 ROMs. In fact, this is the first X07 ROM I've had a chance to play with. Can you/anyone provide info on how to uniquely determine an X07 cart?

At least they use a checksum.
