Big Boy Jones
I'm sure it's been brought up before, but give a newbie a break. Anyone ever own those TV Boy handheld consoles with 100+ built-in games? Does it matter if those games are played on an American TV?
christianscott
i have TV boy II and it does matter if you have an NTSC (north american) TV since nearly all of the TV boys were made for PAL (euro) TVs. i have heard that a small number were sold for NTSC tvs but are pretty hard to find. some models are said to have an internal switch for PAL-NTSC but good informatin is hard to find. my solution was to play it on a commodore monitor, otherwise you'll have to put up with a rolling black and white picture. its a great device to have for all the pirate and obscure games it has built into it. Chris++
I had an NTSC TV Boy. Adam found two of them at a flea market, believe it or not. All boxed up in the original carton and everything. He kept one and gave the other to me, being the cool frood that he is. Oddly, all of the normally PAL games were converted for American TVs, so I was able to play those terrible non-USA games (i.e. those by Puzzy/Bit) that never would've been available otherwise. We're not missing much here in America! Picture a Mythicon game, except -- impossibly -- worse. (cf. "Bobby Is Going Home" -- Pure tripe!) It quit working at some point last year, unfortunately. Had I met you nifty folks at AA by that time, I would've just sent it to someone who was good with electronics, telling them they could have it if they could fix it. But I didn't know better, so it was thrown out. CF
