IHATETHEBEARS
I searched the forums but couldn't find one. Does one exist? Thanks.
bjk7382
I believe the game is only about 80% done, and will probably never be finished. So no, probably no manual for it either. It is a shame because it is one of the best homebrews that made full use of the atarivox. It is still the only game that saves scores and also lets you continue your game even after it is turned off

bjk7382
If you get far enough in the game and then start a new one there will be a 'continue' item right at the top that takes you about the speed and platform placement that the last game left off at. Every time I start a game with the atarivox attached there are 2 of these. If you get the first one it takes you to the green platforms, and if you get the second it takes you to the purple ones. It really isn't a continue feature like a password or anything, but still a first on the 2600 for sure.

As for the Atarivox, is that available for purchase anywhere? Or do you need the Atarivox to get the continue feature?

Albert
I asked someone to make a cart of that game for mehoping that someday an official one will be done It's very uncool that you had Hozer make a cart of this for you, considering that A) he doesn't have permission to do so and B) he used Nathan Strum's label, which he most certainly did not get permission to use. I've even seen this label on Hozer's site. ..Al

Albert
I've asked him to remove the label and stop using it. He's agreed to do so, but we'll see if he follows through. It should never have been up there in the first place, nor used by him to make carts, along with other original label artwork he's lifted without asking permission. ..Al

I didnt know and must say didnt think about the problem of the label I will ask Nathan if he allows me to keep this cart with his label, and deal that with him
+Nathan Strum
Interesting. I got a high score of 750 but must not have gotten as far to get that option. As for the Atarivox, is that available for purchase anywhere? Or do you need the Atarivox to get the continue feature? The continue option will only work if you keep the game running in the emulator (or the 2600). As soon as the game is switched off, you lose the transporter - unless you have an AtariVox. Then it will continue to be available for subsequent games. Also, be sure you're using the latest binary from Alex's site, since the transporter wasn't always in earlier versions. (To get the transporter, you must collect all of the fruit during the parts of the game where the platforms are gold - then pick up the golden fruit. The transporter will then appear at the start of the next game.)

Nathan and Al, seeing that I am a fervent supporter of homebrews creators and their rights ordering that cart was a very clumsy move on my behalf my public apologies
lucifershalo
I dont know if it was mentioned somewhere but with the Atarivox there is the high score display (top 5 with 3 letters initials) that is kept in memory even when the console is switched off)
lucifershalo
The manual is about 80% completed as well. Pretty much all of the info you need to know about the game can be found in this thread. I have been going through the 13 pages a lot of power ups and details maybe a manual/summary wouldnt be a bad thing who is up to the task? +Nathan Strum
The following is text from the manual-in-progress. There's nothing here that's not already in the other thread, but this is all in one place: Setting Up Plug a joystick into the Left controller socket. If you have an AtariVox or I2C Memory Card, plug it into the Right controller socket. Whack the cartridge in the socket and power-on! From the title screen, press Select to choose the TV mode. Each press cycles NTSC - PAL60 - PAL (50Hz). (Selected TV mode is stored in the AtariVox/Memory Card.) Press Fire to start the game. Pressing Reset whilst holding the joystick Down resets the high-scores. (The high-score table is only available when an AtariVox or I2C Memory Card is connected.) Note: Always turn the console power off when inserting or removing an Atari-compatible game program cartridge. This will protect the life of your Atari 2600™ Video Computer Game System. AtariVox and I2C Memory Cards are sold separately. Playing The Game Use joystick Left/Right to negotiate the platforms but don’t get pushed off the top or fall off the bottom of the screen or else it’s Game Over. Scoring You start off scoring 1 point for each platform you pass. Collect fruit in sequence to multiply the score. Cherry: 2x Strawberry: 3x Pineapple: 4x Mango: 5x Collect a Mango and a goodie will appear next. If you miss a fruit or goodie then you lose the multiplier. (The multiplier is also reset after collecting goodies.) Goodies Skateboard - Quicker than running. Gravity (Down Arrow) – Small increase in gravity. Up to 3 of these can be collected in a chain, which also has the benefit of extending the time you have the x5 multiplier. Stop Sign – Momentarily slows the scrolling. Also come in threes. Helipack – Fly your way through the platforms using the Fire button to thrust. Be careful not to crash or you’ll lose it! Bubble – Another way to fly. This time use Up/Down to control your ascent/descent. Magic Mushroom – Mushrooms flash red/blue. Pick one when it’s Blue and you’ll have a good trip (bonus points) but pick one when it’s Red and you’ll have a bad trip (controls reversed). Eating a Mango cures the effect. Mystery Golden Fruit – They’re not called Mystery Golden Fruit for nothing! Man Goes Down ©2006 Alex Herbert
supercat
Bubble – Another way to fly. This time use Up/Down to control your ascent/descent. I'd describe the goodies more simply, for later levels: skateboard=life. Bubble (or anything else)=death.
+Nathan Strum
I'd describe the goodies more simply, for later levels: skateboard=life. Bubble (or anything else)=death. Not entirely true. I find that you only want the skateboard up to a certain point... if you want to survive for the maximum amount of time possible.

For what it's worth, he has removed my artwork without any issue. I'll be keeping an eye on the site to make sure other artwork of mine doesn't mysteriously appear there.
