32-in-1 OS (Using XL OS rev C reverse basic)

s-video upgrade

PAL LCD television using s-video input (pin sharp picture :D )

tried in an emulator and the cherries are red :?:

Not sure, but when I bought my Atari 800 in 1983, it was displaying a green background for me ... There's a potmeter inside that adjust the colors a bit ... might try turning that a little, unless the rest of the colors are okay ...

Take Atarian care

Tried the pot and that made no difference, also tried my 600xl, and 800xl and 600xl on a CRT with composite AV.

Same problem, the other colours are fine, just the cherries are wrong :x

Will try and get the Atarimania image onto my flashcart and try that see if it makes any difference

Yes - as far as I know, this is a known issue with this game on PAL machines.

Interesting. It seems like Atari never really bothered making PAL-specific carts and just sold NTSC carts.

What emulator are you using? It shows up green in Atari800Win PLus in PAL mode for me...

Actually, they did bother with NTSC/PAL in some cases.

Pole Position seems to have a unique palette setting for each system. I only found out myself after someone mentioned it and I tried it out.

Moreso, they also did it for Ms Pac-Man - only they screwed up and chose wrong colours for PAL systems.

Yeah, it also shows up green in any version of Atari800.

I am pretty sure I posted this problem a year or two ago too here.

There are at least two versions of Ms. Pacman. The one with the green cherry... and the one with the red cherry.

I love the one with the red cherry more, because a cherry should not be green.

The disk and file versions are all with the green cherry. As far as i have seen.

I hope someone could post an .ATR with the red cherry.

As far as I know isn't there a difference in part number.

And as far as I know this has nothing to do with NTSC or PAL. Everything is 100% equal between these two versions. It's just the color of the cherry (and strawberry)

Greetz.

I can't see how red could change to green unless the software specified it.

The major issue I see with PAL/NTSC so far as colours are concerned is that PAL Colour 4 is in no way red/pink, and Colour 15 is almost identical to Colour 1.

Green occupies colours 10 thru 12, whereas Red is 3.

I'm curious now, gonna have to play it to see what this is all about.

It happens on level one and on the title/select screen, as I said before it looks fine (red) in emulation, but on 2 PAL Atari's the cherries are green.

I will try and get a screen shot

And Marius is correct, the Strawberry is not ripe either

No need for screenshot, I believe you. Indeed there are 2 versions of Ms Pac-Man, and as Marius1976 confirmed in this thread, both were released on cartridge. The version hosted at Atarimania has correct colours, while the one hosted f.e. here in AtariAge's hidden 8-bit section has green cherries. Both ROMs differ only in one single byte, which defines the colour.

Marius1976: Since you've asked for a file version with red cherries like a year ago, I just thought I might prepare it for you myself; here you go.

It has something to do with PAL/NTSC at least in emulation. It will change colors on-the-fly when I switch modes (not using forced reset).
