Lucky Man
I was taking a look at the original PAL games on Atarimania and it's a much smaller list than I thought. As far as I can tell, there are only 8 games that have not been converted in some form to NTSC: Forest http://atariage.com/forums/topic/146775-pal-ntsc-conversions/?p=1808436 General Re-Treat http://atariage.com/forums/topic/146775-pal-ntsc-conversions/?p=2459821 Panda Chase http://atariage.com/forums/topic/146775-pal-ntsc-conversions/?p=2483404 Ski Hunt http://atariage.com/forums/topic/146775-pal-ntsc-conversions/?p=2308641 Ski Run http://atariage.com/forums/topic/146775-pal-ntsc-conversions/?p=2308641 Treasure Island http://atariage.com/forums/topic/146775-pal-ntsc-conversions/?p=2004062 Walker http://atariage.com/forums/topic/80874-games-that-need-ntsc-conversion-and-vice-versa/?p=986990 Words-Attack http://atariage.com/forums/topic/146775-pal-ntsc-conversions/?p=4035521 Anyone feel like taking a stab at converting these? Wickeycolumbus
Funny you should mention this, I was just converting Snail Against Squirrel to NTSC... then I found out it had been done. I will take a stab at Treasure Island Edited July 6, 2009 by Wickeycolumbus
CPUWIZ
Funny you should mention this, I was just converting Snail Against Squirrel to NTSC... then I found out it had been done. I will take a stab at Treasure Island The Bit-Corp games don't need converting, I found a NTSC multicart with all of them on it a long time ago. Wickeycolumbus
Here is a very ruff conversion of Treasure Island. Runs at 284 scan lines (not steadily though). Still needs a bit of work. TINTSCconversion.zip Edit: Looks like it has already been partially done: Kampf_um_die_Schatzinsel__NTSC_Conversion___2006___Juan_Arceo_.bin Edited July 6, 2009 by Wickeycolumbus

I found some others too: Ski Hunt: Ski_Hunt__NTSC_Conversion___2005___Peter_Rittwage_.bin Ski Run: (there is also an official NTSC ROM) Ski_Run__NTSC_Conversion___2005___Peter_Rittwage_.bin I will look into converting the others. Omegamatrix
A few conversions came out of this thread, about 4 years back. http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...c=80874&hl= Here's a more detailed list of conversions: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=1489179 I have also been working NTSC conversion of X'Mission I've been working on, but the project is on hold right now (busy with school). I've done alot of work cleaning up the rom and will continue it later.
Lucky Man
Thanks Omega! I'll check these out. BTW, any idea if the Walker bin that CPUWIZ posted in the first thread is NTSC or PAL? Or is there some way to find out in Z26? Edited July 7, 2009 by Lucky Man

Thomas Jentzsch
Cycle the palette with backslash. The order is NTSC, PAL, SECAM (which is very obvious). Check the 2nd screen if it is green or not.

CPUWIZ
Palette switching is cycled with the minus key in v2.13 German keyboard?
Lucky Man
Thanks guys. I must have the 2.13 version as it uses the dash key. Checking out the Brick Kick rom from the thread Omega posted--if it's NTSC, the colors must be wrong, because the PAL palette seems to have the correct colors. Lucky Man
I tried these out on the KrokoCart. Ski Hunt, Ski Run and Walker all work fine. The conversion of Treasure Island from Juan Arceo just keeps crashing. Only 5 more to go!
Lucky Man
I have also been working NTSC conversion of X'Mission I've been working on, but the project is on hold right now (busy with school). I've done alot of work cleaning up the rom and will continue it later. FYI, the roms for Time Warp and UFO Patrol (X'Mission) are reversed at theoldcomputer.com and UFO Patrol works fine on my TV. Maybe a Brazilian pirate?
Lucky Man
I tried these out on the KrokoCart. Ski Hunt, Ski Run and Walker all work fine. The conversion of Treasure Island from Juan Arceo just keeps crashing. Only 5 more to go! I guess I should have actually tested Ski Run, and Ski Hunt before posting this. They're still pretty unstable. Definitely need some more work.
Lucky Man
I found some others too: Ski Hunt: Ski_Hunt__NTSC_Conversion___2005___Peter_Rittwage_.bin Ski Run: (there is also an official NTSC ROM) Ski_Run__NTSC_Conversion___2005___Peter_Rittwage_.bin Okay, I didn't notice you mentioned there was an official NTSC rom for Ski Run. I tried that one out and it's a little more stable. And I guess the Ski Hunt conversion is okay, too. Both roll every once in a while, but they're playable. It would be great if someone could finish these, but I guess I'll take what I can get. Only 5 more to go! Thomas Jentzsch
At your service! Forest! (what a lame game...) Forest__NTSC_by_Thomas_Jentzsch_.bin
Lucky Man
You are most awesome, Thomas! I will check this out tonight. Thanks!
Lucky Man
Thomas: Forest works perfectly. Thank you! Although you are right, it is quite lame. But I do like that you can climb the tree for safety. That's funny! It's too bad Words Attack is going to be a tough conversion. It would have been nice to have both PAL-only Sancho games converted. And it sure looks a lot more interesting than this game. Oh well. Wickey: Have you made any more progress with Treasure Island?
Thomas Jentzsch
Thanks. Maybe you can help Albert to keep this up to date? I am sure there are a lot of conversions missing now.
Lucky Man
Thanks. Maybe you can help Albert to keep this up to date? I am sure there are a lot of conversions missing now. Motivating Albert to keep anything here up to date is challenging at best, but I will send him a PM with some of the missing conversions or send a request using the Tracking feature when we get a couple more of these done. I'm hoping to at least get Panda Chase and Treasure Island converted. Which reminds me...what happened to Wickey? Did he lose interest in Treasure Island? Does anyone know what else needs to be done to stabilize the picture in that game or why the other conversion by Juan Arceo just crashes? Wickeycolumbus
Which reminds me...what happened to Wickey? Did he lose interest in Treasure Island? Does anyone know what else needs to be done to stabilize the picture in that game or why the other conversion by Juan Arceo just crashes? I'm not dead I don't have much time for this right now. The issue with the picture is that I shortened the vertical blank and overscan periods too much, and when certain branches are taken, they take up too much time and the screen rolls.
