ATARI 2600 KRULL PROTOTYPE / EPROM AUCTION

Hello Everyone,

I am hoping I will not rise the ire of the Al's with this.

I would like to Auction off an Atari 2600 Krull Prototype

here. Since eBay will not allow auctions for eproms I

thought since this is the best Atari website in the world :P ,

I would try to auction off a few of my proto's here. First

up will be Krull with paperwork back-up. Nobody anywhere

has been able to offer the "provenance" I am offering here.

Bids can be placed here as responses to this post. The

bidding will end Sunday March 2nd at 8pm ET. The auction

can be viewed here:

Thank you to all who visit and bid.

PS: I have eBay feedback of 455 as: postcardmary

This auction would raise my interest if the original paperworks were included. Copies of them are some kind of lame...

Marc.

Marc,

Actually I wish I could, but If I include the original papers with

this sale, what do I do for the person who wins Battlezone. I would

rather just send the copies to the winners and be fair to all those

who have bought proto's from me in the past. Also remember that

these are from the 60's. Believe it or not, none of the companies,

including Atari or Activision used computer generated paperwork.

Everything was Xeroxed copies. They were at the threshold of the

computer revolution and used old technology. Some of the paper

work I have from some of the manufacturers is even all written in

pen. There marketing divisions were "way" behind their development

boys. I appreciate your thoughts, but hope you understand my

situation as to who should get the original and who should get the

copy. The copies are actually better than the originals as they have

faded some and will continue to do so I imagine in the future.

@JJ

Well, lame might be the wrong word for it, sorry for that. What I wanted to say is that a die hard collector only goes for original items (even if the copy is way better than the original), not for a photocopy of it (which - as you said - indeed is still a nice bonus for the buyer).

Take care,

Marc.

I think if more than one prototype is on that paperwork you need to sell them as a lot. I bid on a couple auctions in the past until I found out people were getting photocopies of the paperwork. If you show pictures of paperwork with the prototype and you can't send originals you need to make that VERY CLEAR and I don't think it was.

I am not trying to piss in your cereal here but I think bidders should know if they will get the original paperwork or not right off the bat. A Krull prototype by itself might fetch $40-$50 but certainly not over $100.00 so I am assuming the rest of the bid goes towards the original paperwork.

I could be worng. Maybee the price of Atari protos has gone up that much because ebay pulled them and its time to sell mine on Atari Age as well.

Here an auction idea. Why don't you sell all the original paperwork in one lot after the protos are gone. Now there is something I'd be interested in.

Now just to inform you that as far as the paperwork goes

much of the paperwork the companies issued was copied.

I just now looked through the 1983 Press Kit I have and I

would say literally half was Xeroxed copies. Maybe that's

why Atari sunk. They were Xeroxing copies instead of just

sending out stuff to a printer. Just wasting money as fast

as they could.

I have loads of Press Kits that I will be putting up for sale

with whatever paperwork they have in them. Some will be

all printed others will have some printed some copied. I am

sorry I cannot control that. Some of the companies are:

Atari, Activision, CBS, Imagic, Amiga, Tigervision and many

more.

PS: I'm pretty sure you got all original paperwork with the

Malagai cartridge didn't you? If you didn't you got whatever

I had, as I have nothing else.

My processor isn't working at full capacity today. I wanted

to answer your primary question and then got all off on the

use of copies by many of the companies. The ad specifically

states, and this is cut and pasted here directly from the ad:

EVERYTHING LISTED BELOW IS INCLUDED IN YOUR

WINNING BID. COPIES OF ALL 3 DIFFERENT SETS OF

PAPER WORK( Official Atari Press Release, Atari

equipment loan document and Atari Review and Evaluation

Document ) AND THE CARTRIDGE. PLUS IF YOU

WANT I CAN WRITE YOU A LETTER TRANSFERING

THE CARTRIDGE TO YOU.

It does say: COPIES.

Believe me I don't want to fool anyone about anything. If

anyone has a question I will answer. I have nothing to lie

about or be coy about.

Hmmm...  Let's try 140.

I'm going to retract my bid. I based my offer on the fact that it came with original paperwork. I apologize. I think a fair price for just the proto and a copy of the paperwork is 70-80 dollars. Since this is tied in with the Battlezone (paperwork), I'd be interested in both if they were auctioned together.

Sure looks like the Wiz's 75.00 bid now is top bid.

JC as far as original paperwork what I am going to do is

this. The Product Release for Krull is the original. That is

the picture that is not coming up. It is a 2 page Press

release for the Krull release. The second paper which is

the review and evaluation release will also be the original

paper. I happen to have a different original for the

Battlezone. The third though I cannot furnish the original

as that is the only one I have. They were supposed to be

signed and sent back. I happened to keep that one. That

is the package anyone will win now. If you want to recind

your bid that's OK I understand.

Wiz everything mentioned is now in the package as stated,

and you seem to be in the drivers seat leading the race with

a big lead.
