B&W Switch on SECAM Console

So are some of the B&W/Color switches on all SECAM consoles different from NTSC consoles? A Synthcart user told me when he switches it to B&W, the picture actually changes to black & white. But the Synthcart doesn't support this, so it must be a hardware B&W switch?

Is there a hack to install a proper B&W switch?

It means that from a software perspective, the B&W/Color switch bit is hardwired to B&W. There's still a working B&W/color switch on the console, but it's somehow is hooked up directly to the video output and selects a B&W color palette when you set it to the B&W position, and it doesn't affect the bit that's normally associated with this switch.

Hmmm...that would mean the map in Starmaster wouldn't come up on those consoles :?
