GamebaseST
Having just got into the 8bit Atari scene, I'm after what seems to be the best BASIC environment for it. Advan basic + compiler + optimiser. Does anyone know where I could possibly get hold of these items? I'll watch eBay of course, but I'm not sure how well this version of Basic sold back then, and if the only way of getting now is via disk image. Either way I really want to find it somewhere. Nukey Shay
Here it is. But I'd suggest that you get a C compiler to work with M/L instead (which is not much more complex than Basic IMO). The best thing about Advan is the flexibility compiling existing Atari Basic programs...which seems to be more forgiving than other compilers. But it rarely performs better than a 10% overall speed increase...which is nothing compared to C programming. advan_basic.zip
GamebaseST
Thanks for that. In my searching today I came across the Quick programming language that Dean G sell over here: http://www.dgs.clara.net/ I've ordered his new compilation CD since its such a good price, and will play around with it. It seems to be a hybrid language, close to C. I've never used C but am used to very structured and low-level Basics such as GFA on the ST, so maybe Quick would be good 8bit choice for me. I want to be able to play with the sound and graphics and maybe port some of my Atari ST demos to it. Rob
