killersquirel
Hello, I remember playing the extra level for pitfall 2 back in 1984 and I figured I would relive my childhood wonder and do it again last night. I collected the girl and the wolf and the mouse that normally pushes you off the screen, but I forget how to get to the extra level. Does anyone know how to do this? -mike
+-^CrossBow^-
You forgot the Ring... I believe the minimum to pass the first level is getting the girl, the ring, and quickclaw (wolf). Then it talks about the new portal that opens up and goes from there...

jnice
This is such a great game! The extra level is a lot of fun. The only thing I didn't like about the game was the music being repititious (but still very impressive sound for the system, I think)! I'll admit that I had to cheat and use the level II map to find the area I was supposed to exit. Otherwise I think I would've played this game for a month and never have found it. Godzilla
I wish there were some way to just start at level 2. I've played through the first level of pitfall 2 so many times it's hard to make myself do it again every time I want to play level 2. I'd love to see the second level from the 5200 hacked to replace the single level in the 2600 version.
Godzilla
On a side note, is this the only activision port of a 2600 title with actual new content that isn't just either a straight port or a straight port with a few graphics tweaks, like all their other ports... Susuwatari
Someone here could maybe try to hack Pitfall 2 to offer an option to start directly in the second part. I've played the first part over so often I could probably do the whole thing blindfolded and still get a perfect score.
Schmutzpuppe
Sometime ago I made a hack http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...ghlight=pitfall Maybe it helps.
Godzilla
awesome! thanks schmutz! now if only I could get it on cart somewhere....
killersquirel
I recommend the maxi-cart from www.vgwiz.com. This is a quality product that works great and should be in every 5200 collection. Now, they just have to make software for the mac, so I can just put my pc out to pasture once and for all. -mike

killersquirel
Hey Sku_u, You should change your avatar so it has a microsoft windows logo where the infogrames logo is. -mike
sku_u
Hmmmmmm..... Windows is a truly shotty product, and I did in fact leave my bank over the dissatisfaction with their crappy new touch screen windows based program today in favor of a non-MS influenced bank. Godzilla
hey now, without windows we'd have nothing to run our atari emulators on :-)
Stingray
hey now, without windows we'd have nothing to run our atari emulators on :-) The Mac version of Stella works fine for me. -S

I suggest you ask the teller what's running on her desk behind the counter. Of course, you'll pr'ly have to change banks again...
frogstar_robot
I regularly enjoy emulation on my Linux machine. 2600: z26 (thanks!) and xstella. check 5200/8bit: Atari800 and Atari++. check 7800: mess. check There is a Lynx emulator and I got a Jaguar emulator running last week but the performance was painful..oh well. I also enjoy decent Genesis, NES, Gameboy and SNES emulators. MAME works quite well. I haven't been interested in other systems but I doubt I'd want badly. There was a thread a couple weeks back on the 2600 forum about some 2600 inspired tunes. They were released in AAC which caused consternation but I could play those too. FAAD is your friend here. Windows isn't the entire world; it just seems that way sometimes.
