:( Weather is going to be awful that time of year.

Huh? do you live in PA? Late Oct/early Nov is a beautiful time of year here:

from this archived weather link:

http://www.erh.noaa.gov/phi/climate/archiv...HLLCD112004.txt

seems that the average temp was around 50 degrees or better, no snowfall. we very rarely get snow here before the end of December.

plus the trees and other fauna and foliage are amazing to behold....

Thanks for the update!

One concern from me - Why is the admission "free"? I realize you want more poeople for the vendors, but I'm concerned about the arcade area and those beautiful machines. I realize this is coming from me who complained a few years ago when the admission was 20 bucks a head(considering I had 2 kids coming) but with free admission, aren't you guys concerned about the place just getting mobbed?

I undestand 40,000 square feet is a big jump from last year, but unless you guys have something worked out with the arcade area(and please explain if you do), it just seems to me that the arcade will get abused big time..

Thanks again!

Shame its in the fall. I won't be able to make it then. I was hoping for the spring date, but we will be in another part of the country then, and gradschool will have started too. Shame really, as I grew up less than 10 miles from the site... :x Oh well, maybe next year Ill make it to the Oklahoma show or CGE instead. We will be out int CO or Cali by fall. :D

It's great to hear that you've locked down dates and a location for the show! It'll be strange being in a different venue, but there was nothing really special about the Valley Forge Convention Center. :) That's a pretty sizable increase in space, I'd like to know what you're planning with it! And I very much look forward to the larger announcement in a week!

I was also wondering about the weather in mid-November, but I can't imagine it's any worse than the weather in March when the show has been previously held. After the 2004 show, we got caught near white-out conditions trying to flee the state! :) And most of March is still technically winter, while November is fully in the fall..

Is this closer to West PA now?

Nope, Fort Washington appears to be about 15 miles from the heart of Philadelphia. And since Philly is a pretty big city, in actuality it's certainly closer than that. Don't know how this compares to the old location, though, as I'm not too familiar with this area.

The chances of snow around where the convention center is at that time of the year are remote. I'm in a colder climate than where the center is and only remember seeing snow before Thanksgiving 5 times in the past 10 years. Only one of those storms was more than a few inches. Last November, I still had vegetables growing in the garden and hadn't experienced a hard frost yet.

I think that's a good time of the year to have it because it's far enough removed from both the summer cons and Christmas for people to have some money to spend on themselves.

I grew up in Plymouth Whitemarsh which is right there. Shame I no longer life there, and in November Ill be an extra 20 hours drive on top of the 8 now. :x

Very nice area though with plenty of things to do and a mall and such. Suburbia and not quite the King of Prussia mall like the Valley forge Convention center has though.

Damn, I don't think we are going to be able to make it.

It's in between my father's and my birthday(day after) and we'll probably be out of state unless something happens to my grandfather.

As a side note I can't stand the Fort Washington Expo center. Been there for a lot of shows and involved with the annual pet expo. It never seemed as brightly lit or as clean as Valley Forge even though VF was smaller and FW always seemed to be really tight on space.

*sigh* Maybe we'll see you guys next year.

Does anybody know what the closest hotel is to the Expo Center?

Allan

Thanks,

I did see this page but I was wondering if somebody know the area and knew what the closest hotel was. I can do it the hard way but I just thought I'd ask to see if somebody knew off the top of their head.
