Pipster
It's boxed like my other one and was not advertised as a 'heavy sixer', it comes with '77 joysticks and normal paddles like the others but a different '78 box, it also doesn't have the FCC rules on the label. Like the other one it too has 'Cherry Leisure' tape on the end flap covering the 'PAL' sticker. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1 Here's the other topic on PAL 'heavy sixers' http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...pal+heavy+sixer I'll post some pics later. Pipster
Do you reckon this proves they are genuine now?
Pipster
You'll notice the joysticks don't have the word 'TOP' on them but also don't have an indentation for the hex disc but they are definately early joysticks by the feel of the fire button and actual movement. Here's some pics...........
deathtrappomegranate
I think that the lack of an FCC declaration is probably important. Admittedly, I'm really an 8-bit computer kind of guy, but I've owned maybe 10 NTSC 2600s, and I've seen hundreds on ebay and elsewhere, and they always seem to have that FCC stuff. This machine looks well preserved. I think that there are genuine PAL H6s - although others are yet to be convinced, I believe.
deathtrappomegranate
Well, I recently received another PAL "big sexy". Again, no FCC declaration, similar box to those that Pipster has photographed. '77 sticks, too, but regular paddles. Doesn't look as though the case has been opened. It seems clear that the heavy sixer was indeed available in the UK.
Pipster
I got another one recently as well, '77 box and the same joysticks/paddles and Cherry Leisure power supply. The one that i started this thread with i sold for £220, i was very tempted to keep it but i have a very nice '77 boxed one and this one was '78. Seemed stupid having more than one..........although i do rather regret it now.

Pipster
I took a chance asking that much and wasn't bothered either way, the buyer was more than happy as well.
liveinabin
Damn, just got beaten in an auction for a really nice PAL heavy sixer http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=8223564181 That would have been nice. Couldn't really justify the extra money though
Pipster
He'll resell that soon enough for around the £100 mark.

The seller says it's been tested on a PAL TV, though.
Pipster
I didn't notice, i have a loose one here that i've always assumed was a converted one because it had FCC stuff on the bottom.
video game addict
Here's a boxed one........... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...me=STRK:MEWA:IT 946042[/snapback] All of those Atari games look like NTSC English only boxes. Do they all exist as PAL too?
liveinabin
Diffficult to tell if that's the original box also as, AFAIK, all Woodgrain 6 switch boxes in UK had a picture of a heavy sixer. Mine does. And not having the original power supply is a bit suss.
Pipster
It is a very early 1977 box with the chess piece on it though, also i've noticed that the PAL 'heavy sixer' boxes i've seen don't tend to have the 'UK' sticker on the front either.
