bjk7382
I am trying to search for topics regarding Jaguar RF to see if maybe I can clean it up by doing something, because mine looks horrible. I am waiting to get one of the composite cables on ebay for cheap (there only seems to be 1 or 2 up at a time and they go for quite a range of prices) But I am running into problems searching for those specific topics. It seems you can't search for anything under 4 letters So how do we search for "RF" and just get posts talking about RF, how bad it is, and what(if any) ways there are to clean it up? I tried putting my whole search text into quotes, but I got something like 38 pages of results just in the jag forum (and i had search only titles checked) Edited February 9, 2006 by bjk7382
Galaga_Freak
I usually use google's site search capability for atariage, since it would seem the multi-word search has been broken for some time. Search google with this: site:http://atariage.com/forums jaguar rf
Albert
You can use multi-word search on AtariAge, but you have to prefix each word with a plus sign (+). Quoting text to search for unfortunately does not work and IPB was supposed to fix this but they never did. However, RF is too short of a search term to search for by itself, so I don't know any easy way to search for "Jaguar RF" using the built-in search capabilities of the forum. Galaga_Freak's suggestion to use Google is a good one, and seems to pick up lots of relevant results. I don't know if every forum thread is indexed in Google, though. We'll soon be running a newer version of the forum and hopefully the search problems will go away. If not, I'll harass IPB again until they are fixed. This won't fix the problem witih two character searches, but at least a search for "Jaguar RF" would then work. ..Al
bjk7382
Thanks for the tip about searching thru google. Didn't know about that. Also about the multiple word workaround. And Al, at least the search function works for everything else in a timely manner, unlike the old boards where you would have to wait forever just to get tons of matches for stuff you didin't search for. Omegamatrix
Bjk7382, I find the best way to search is by using the search button between the members & help buttons at the top of the forums page. It's much better then the search feature pasted to the screen as it brings up more options. Select the Atari Jaguar forum from the drop down screen, and type in something real general to search for such as the word cable. before you start the search select "search titles only". This should now bring up a variety of topics that you are looking for. Hope this helps.
Atari Rescue Group
In the forum search trying "+jaguar +adapter" or +switch in there may be a good search. Many posts with a RF reference have either adapter or switch mentioned in them.
