+Zeptari
My SC1224 speaker makes a cracking noise when I turn the volume up or down. Plus when I turn it all the way up it's volume level is really low..... What can I do? -Rick ohhh another thing my monitor an Atari (SC1224 ) made by Goldstar in Sept 1985. Has an opening in the back for adjusting different things like: vert and hor hold and size. But it's just that an opening! There's no knobs there to adjust anything! What gives? Hmm, many times controls like that will acquire dust... Sometimes, sometimes, I say, you can get a can of that compressed air and clean it out real good and that will help. As for the knobs, are you sure they aren't sunk back in there? (I mean like a screwdriver type adjustment)... If they are not, then I'd be tempted to pull the cover off the SC1224 and see whats there. Mind you, thats with it unplugged, and with the knowledge that like any TV set, things hold charges that can still shock you, even unplugged - so be careful. HTHs. +Zeptari
I have some really bad news. My SC1224 monitor died last night while I was playing Towers. It made some loader cracking noise then a flash or two then the screen went black. This Is really sad. It might take me awhile to save up the cash for a new monitor. I guess I have two options: 1. save up and buy a newer monitor..if i do this should i get a newer SC1435? And if i do this will i still have a way to output sound on my 1040f? or 2. save up and buy a 1040STE and use a TV till i can buy a decent monitor? What should I do??? Help!!! -Rick

You can go either route - note that the STe is a much nicer machine than the regular STs... HTHs.
+Zeptari
I think i have to many options now! I forgot Best has this: http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/monadapt.htm Anyone have one? Are most of the monitors they have listed impossible to find now? This might be a much cheaper option then buying an expensive Atari monitor. What to do!?! Ohh BTW I took my dead monitor apart... there was NO knobs inside to adjust anything on the back....weird... I have some really bad news. My SC1224 monitor died last night while I was playing Towers. I know the STE is a much nicer machine, but how compatible is it with most of the ST software out there?Does it matter which version of TOS is in STE I might get? 1.06 and 1.62 (RainbowTOS). Later also TOS 2.06. I have to think this one over....... I've got 3 choices now: get an Atari monitor or get the multi sync adaptor and montor that will work with it or get an STE and hook it up to a TV. aaaahahhahhahhhhhhahahahhaaaahh :!: Edited August 27, 2006 by Zeptari

Did you also get prices from B&C Computervisions, and Bravo Sierra? I owned an STe once, and have a Mega STe now. IMHO, they are mostly compatible, with most software that won't work being early games... If you do go for an STe then go for the later TOS 1.62, because 1.60 had a bug in it that wouldn't let you save your desktop in med-rez. Of course, TOS v2.06 rocks... HTHs. tjlazer
I have a JVC SC1224 I could sell you. How much you looking to pay? Remember shipping will be around $30 or so.

So how much are we talking about? I don't want a DOA monitor. I've already been there. Sorry If I'm coming across sounding a little negitive. -Rick
LYNXGUY
Hey Rick I could be wrong here but can't you just get a used TV and use that instead of a monitor ?? In fact a new 13" TV is only $50. . . ..well they are where I work anyway
