Universal Arcade -> Atari 2600 port

Hi there!

 

Since johnnywc just delivered Lady Bug, it should be interesting to look at the rest of the Universal library. For the start I picked the 5 most fun looking games that never saw a console release before.

(I can add more choices on request if there's strong interest in some, so just wait with voting if your "must" game is missing)

 

And the question is again: Which of these is the most desired for the Atari 2600?

Ok, I played them all through MAME. Here are my thoughts:

 

Most fun, in descending order:

Do! Run Run

Snap Jack

Mr. Do's Wild Ride

Cheeky Mouse

Jumping Jack

Cosmic Avenger

 

Ease of porting to 2600, in descending order:

Cheeky Mouse

I can see this, as it seems almost being designed with a 2600 conversion in mind. I also like the uhm... theme of the game

 

I just think the gameplay is a bit too shallow and it gets boring before the end of the third coin

I vote Mr. Do's Wild Ride, it is a very fun and original game, jumping over roller coster cars, climbing ladders to get cherries. It is a very cool game.

Interesting to see so many Cosmic Avenger votes. While I admittedly like it, on closer inspection it is just a crippled Scramble clone.

Also, it'll jitter-scroll on the VCS just like the Coleco version does, it'll just look a lot worse while doing so

I like Cosmic Avenger (at least the ColecoVision version of it) better than I do either Scramble or Super Cobra, given that I don't have to worry about bombing fuel tanks just to keep myself flying.
