  1. Hi there! Ya'll may remember me from back in the day, 2008, when I found Cabbage Patch Kids Adventures in the Park for 2600. Well, I've been quite busy since then. We've built the Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment in Oakland, California's first videogame museum! We've very small right now, but we are trying to grow. We need volunteers, equipment donations, and monetary donations. We can give you a tax-write-off for all of these, as we are a 501c3 non-profit. We also need volunteers, both local and remote. We're preparing for our first exhibit right now, the history of 3D, and we need help writing up the documents/plaques that will accompany each game. They'll be simple one-page sheets with screenshots, the names of the games' creators, and some info on the game's creation. Anyone interested in helping us out? Or with just coming to volunteer? Email me at alex@themade.org check out our site at http://www.themade.org or come by for one of our weekly events: Wednesday nights at 7 we have our weekly meeting, and Tuesday nights at 7 we have Fight Club, and old skool fighting game tournament. Want to host events? Contact me! Our primary goal is to teach people about how games are made, and to provide playable exhibits. We're located in downtown Oakland at 610 16th St. Suite 230 Oakland CA 94612.
  2. Hey everyone! I so love coming back and reading this thread. Ya'll are awesome when consumed with the difficult task of recovering and analyzing digital history! There were all sorts os schemes and plans floating around when I found these, and it would seem that most people who had ideas for the stuff I found have gone on to do them. Which is radical ninja. I never expected monetary remuneration for my find. It was the single most thrilling find of my life, and that has been plenty for me. Again, thank you all for the forensics. I love to see how everyone has worked to dissect every aspect of it for the betterment of us all. Anyway, I have begun to auction off some of these EPROMs on Game Gavel, in case anyone was interested in owning some of the duplicates. I will not be auctioning any of the Cabbage Patch Kids EPROMs, however, nor any of the other uniques. I might be convinced to sell Jigsaw, however. Consider it pimping, but I thought the people who were into this thread would want to know. http://www.gamegavel.com/item.cgi?show_item=0000225267 http://www.gamegavel.com/item.cgi?show_item=0000225327
  3. I listed another one. Go get it, boys. http://www.gamegavel.com/item.cgi?show_item=0000225327
  4. 2010 the Action Game for Colecovision, prototype. http://www.gamegavel.com/item.cgi?show_item=0000225267
  5. To continue my pimping out of my auctions, ya'll should go and check out my first prototype auction at http://www.gamegavel.com/item.cgi?show_item=0000225267 Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong, here.
  6. So, I have decided to auction these one at a time. Here is a link to the first auction over at GameGavel. Spread the word folks! http://www.gamegavel.com/item.cgi?show_item=0000225267
  7. Again, this is not about the museum, per se. Just wanted to let you know what the money would be spent on. It's WAY too early to talk about the museum, but if you wanted to place bets on all the efforts... well... I've spent the last 11 years working as a journalist and making connections with developers and publishers around the world, and a lot of my former co-workers are now high ups at some of the larger publishers... Anyway, it's a long way off. Takes a year for the IRS to approve non-profit status, and once I get money from the auction, the waiting begins...
  8. Nope, no more Atari Protos. Only Colecos.
  9. Hey there folks. I am the guy who found the Cabbage Patch game for 2600, and I've continued to find great things at the local flea market since last summer (Best summer evar!) So, here's my deal. I am trying to start a non-profit museum. It's a giant, 10 to 15 year plan, and I'm aiming for the stars. I don't want to talk it up, though. What I do want is to be able to afford the IRS application and state incorporation fees for starting such a non-profit. Basically, I have done all the leg work, now all I need is money. Unfortunately, as it takes about a year to get non-profit status from the IRS, I can't yet hold a charity auction for this money, because you'd all have already filed your taxes for this year by the time the status was approved. Basically, that means this hypothetical auction of mine is NOT a charity auction. It's just me straight up auctioning my goodies. I was thinking that a Colecovision prototype sale would be a nice way to start this museum. Would I do better auctioning these separately or all-together: Spy Hunter (3 versions, eproms only) 2010 the Action game (1 on cart, 1 bare eproms) Aardvark (non-working. Debugger inline, eproms only) Wargames (on cart) Bank switch test (what it says, one eprom) One blank colecovision cart with no markings, unknown, NOT FROM SAME PLACE AS THE OTHER PROTOS recent find and possibly not a proto: You can look at these protos and the others I found last summer at http://www.gism.net/roms.zip and for the backstory on the protos as a whole: http://blog.gism.net/?p=135 The code for everything is in there, so you can see if they work by loading them into an emulator. As I recall, all of these worked, save for Aardvark. Additionally, what if I auctioned some other protos, like Skies of Arcadia for Dreamcast, or Faselei for Neo Geo Pocket Color? Anyway, what kinds of prices would I get? Would it be better to sell in a lot or individually, so everyone can have Christmas presents?
  10. Hey, The Historian: did you ever figure out what your unknown cart was? the DEI 1059 NR Rev NC2 cart, which you thought was an Epyx cart, possibly neverending Story. I got one of these too. I want to know what it is. I am not even sure what system it is for.
  11. Just did a video interview at Game Life last week. It's online now at http://video.wired.com/index.jsp?auto_band...ry=FRdamp272819
  12. Yes, mixed in and out of order, at http://www.flickr.com/photos/vonguard/sets...57604647023310/
  13. While we were dumping them, we were wondering about those... cbpark2-atari-7-3-AD79-rev3.bin cbpark3-atari-6-29-AD79.bin Seeing that the checksum is the same, the game is likely 100% exact (hence the same checksum). I think the naming convention changed, since the revisions started with cbpark0 being rev 1, which was confusing. I don't remember what the labels looked like (Von Guard?) but they might just be the same ROM burned by two different people. Joe Yeah, I seem to recall that we figured out that someone else's handwriting was on these. One guy abbreviated it CB Park, the other CPK Adv. The image below shows the two styles.
  14. Start with Revision 0 then move up to revision 9. Note that there are dates in some of the file names. Those are all dates in 1984. Also, for any Coleco people out there, we need help making the Coleco roms work. Look at the file and you'll see what needs to be done. The files names are confusing to me. There are also two bins labeled 6-30 chip 1 and 2 that don't appear to work. I have them in this order (my file names) cbpark 5-24-84 cbpark 6-14-84 cbpark 6-??-84 (labeled revision 2) cbpark 6-29-84 cbpark 7-3-84 cbpark 7-27-84 cbpark 8-21-84 cbpark 9-4-84 cbpark 9-7-84 cbpark 9-13-84 There are also two 9-13's in there so I'm not sure which one is correct. Anyone have any idea? Tempest cpkadv-rev2-1-2600-a527.bin cbpark0-atari-5-24-65EC-rev1.bin cbpark1-atari-6-14-A64D-rev2.bin cbpark2-atari-7-3-AD79-rev3.bin cbpark3-atari-6-29-AD79.bin cpkadv-rev4-atari-7-27-84-8AED.bin cbpark5-atari-8-21.bin cbpark6-atari-9-4.bin cbpark7-atari-9-7.bin cbpark8-atari-9-13.bin cbpark9-atari-9-13.bin That's the correct order that is correct, by the file names in the zip, Tempest. When yer done, you can do Spy Hunter, Of which there are only 2 revisions.
  15. Hey everyone, no need to merge files. Redownload the ROM zips I have on my site blog.gism.net as I have pasted in the ROMs as Kevtris fixed them into working order. Anyone have a clue what Dragon 80 should be named? I can't even imagine what the game was supposed to be. Maybe Dragonslayer?
