It also has the Atari 1224 color monitor. Can anyone provide any links for software that will take advantage of the Mega ST2's additional memory and blitter chip?
Thx.

Unknown Issues?

I have fixed many Ataris over the years with the usual issues, bad power regulator, bad RIOT and/or TIA chips, cold solder joints, etc, but tonight I am stumped!

Just bought two Ataris, a 6 switch and a 4 switch. When powered up with a game cart, you get just blue and red "swirls", almost like the vertical hold is off. Have checked regulator, solder points, changed to all good known working chips, cleaned cartridge and system cart contacts, and still no dice.

The issue is definitely in the systems, not the AC adapter, tv sets, etc.

Anyone else run into this issue and what did you to to fix it?

I have an Atari 65XE that has been stored in its original box for over ten years. I got it out yesterday to reminisce, and it wouldn't power on. The transformer hums, so I don't think that's the problem. I opened the case to see if I could spot anything "obvious", but it basically looked clean inside. If I could get my hands on a multimeter, does anyone know what to check to see if power is getting into the machine? I cleaned the pins on the plug that goes into the computer for power, but that didn't help. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Can't figure this out. I have two heavy sixer Atari (one with the cybertech s-video/stereo mod) and the other just plain found-like-it-was at St Vincent DePaul...

I was lucky enough to find a Quadrun once, and paid dearly for Berzerk Voice Enhanced on an ebay auction years ago...

But both do the same thing! When the voice part come on, it just chirps for a quick moment out of my TV.

Quadrun:
"Qua-. ... ..."

Berzerk VE:
"Chi.. ... ... . ...."

... this seems to be for all segements with voice. I think I even tried loading Open Seseme on my Supercharger once and seeing the same thing, but this is fuzzy.

Anyway, this has been baffling me for years. What's the point of these showy games to guests if they don't work properly?

Jaggy the Jaguar contest

Well, want to win some free swag? Here we go. Jaggy the Jaguar is going and about to go some more, so here's the idea. Submit ideas for future storylines. It's that easy. I have made four high quality pronts of the first strip and signed and numbered them. Four winners will win the prints and to make things cooler, the top dog, the guy I decide is the best idea will also win an original piece of artwork from me. The piece will not be a print and a one of a kind piece by me to go along with the numbered print. Not too hard an something everyone can do. Please so "Let's transport Jaggy to said Videogame" as that storyline is in effect right now., Fresh and imaginative ideas only. When does this end, you may ask? January 2nd 2010 will be when the winner is announced, so hopefully this ends up being a nice little beginning of the year item for some lucky winner. Anyway, I hope you guys got your thinking caps on and get started. Just leave your ideas here in this thread and we shall see what shakes loose all. Remember, this is FREE, no entry fee and no shipping charges or whatnot. Have a good time. Oh, and Albert, you are also allowed to enter, no excluding the owner/mods here either.

Hi all,
New to the forum but have been an avid gamer and collector since the 80's. I just recently started collecting Atari carts again (spent most of my years collecting rare games on other consoles)and found a few good deals at the local Goodwill for around $5. They also had some loose carts like Circus there but I'll have to grab them when I get back over that way in a few days. Anyway AtariAge thanks for peeping my post.

1 Mb Simm expansion for 65xe/130 XE - final solution

So, I`d like to present FINAL solution for xe - 65 and 130 XE with 4bit memory - 1mb upgrade created by Pasiu - pcbs designed by me

so...what You will need :

- desoldering tools
- soldering iron
- 30 cm of thin cable

and .... 10 minutes of time !!!

Look at the picture :

Step by step:

OPTION 1
- desolder all memory chips from board (2 or 4) - 2 minutes
- solder back in lower banks 2 precision sockets - 1 minute
- solder into the board simm EXP logic - 1 minute
- connect with wire simm adaptor, mmu and simm logic - 2 minutes
- insert simm adaptor into the board
- insert simm into socket -- READY !!!!!!

OPTION 2

- desolder two bottom memory chips in 130 xe - 65xe do nothing, except clearing the holes - leave upper two chips in their places
- solder into the board goldpins ( 4 row of 9 pins)
- insert simm adaptor onto golidpins -- SOLDER them !
- solder into the board simm EXP logic - 1 minute
- connect with wire simm adaptor, mmu and simm logic - 2 minutes
- insert simm into socket -- READY !!!!!!

expansion doesn`t affect vbxe or anything else...Time -- 10 minutes, EASY ! even my just married wife said it is a piec of cake
