I have too much junk! I had been wondering where this game went! When I got my used PS1 a few years ago, the first games I got were Missile Command and Pong. There wasn't really anything else the store had that I was interested in. Now I have about 20 different PS1 games, but Pong was still missing. So I was looking for my Sega Saturn...

Wanted: Atari 8-bit computer

Hi there

I'm looking to get an atari 8bit computer. i keep seeing material on them and have decided to move forward with my plan to acquire one

I'd prefer one of the xl models but the OG 400 and 800 would be ok too, I used to have a 400 actually...

In addition, I'd like to be able to use it. I'd like some games as well
If necessary a disc or tape drive too

I'd really prefer to buy a whole 'set' from someone but if not, it's all good.

Thanks for your time

Wanted: Bubsy for the Jaguar (CIB)

Well, I didn't want it to come to this. But it has to.

I need Bubsy for the Jaguar.

*shudder*

CIB is a must, unless you have a cart-only (or just cart and manual) super cheap.

Not sure what to offer, but I'd like to pay by PayPal. I might have stuff to trade (can send a list), but a lot of stuff in my collection is off-limits so it might be tough to work something out.

Oh yeah, I prefer to buy from someone in the US for the sake of reliability (less chance of the package getting lost) as well as shipping speed.

I am looking for a nice, clean ATARI 2600 Junior case - - I don't need the innards!

I really only need the TOP of a Junior, more specifically, but I would be interested in complete units, too.

Appearance, condition, and funtion is important - - it needs to have the cartridge-opening tabs, for instance, and the mylar Select/Reset switches need to work. A few scuffs on the case or metal bezel are okay.

Thanks to any and all that can help!!

Greetings!

Greetings to all! I have been a long term lurker here, finally created an account in 2008, and finally got around to posting an intro today. How's that for procrastination?!? (Edit: this post is a "bit" long for an intro - hopefully there will be a few readers. If not, it's been a fun exercise to write it. LOL)

I live in Suffolk, VA, US, which is one of seven cities (Norfolk and Virginia Beach are two of the most known) in the Hampton Roads area. My current employer is Tidewater Community College, and I hold the position of Programmer/Analyst. I work mostly with Oracle databases which contain the college's data - mostly relating to Student data. Our office produces reports, queries, and customized features to our Student Information System. I like to joke around my job that; if it were not for video games, I never would've gotten this job!

Like many here, I grew up in the 70's and 80's when "classic gaming" was just "video games." Unlike most of my peers at that time, I had an insatiable curiosity about how video games were made. While playing Atari VCS games, my friends would tire of my constant, "I wonder how THAT was done?" type of questions. In turn, I would tire of their "Who cares?" responses!

Naturally, this led to the discovery that video games were simply programs which ran on a computer. After having cut MANY lawns, I acquired my first computer, a Timex Sinclair 1000, in 1982 at the age of 11. I began learning BASIC and quickly figured out that 2KB of RAM was just not enough. The greatest accomplishments were a "guess the number" game, and a crude facsimile of the first screen of Donkey Kong using PLOT and DRAW statements.

After many additional lawn-cutting sessions, I bought my second computer - the TI-99/4A in the new beige case. Color Graphics? Sound? Arcade quality games? What an upgrade that was from the TS1000! From the built-in TI-BASIC, my memory is that creating high-res graphics required the use of CALL_CHAR to re-define character sets. I spent many hours drawing pictures on graph paper, sectioned into 8x8 groups, "reading" the HEX numbers directly off the grid and typing them into CALL_CHAR statements. Instead of re-defining the character set BEFORE printing them, I'd do the PRINT statements first, then the call_chars. That way, I could watch a bunch of random text changing into the desired image as the program ran!

Eventually I discovered TI Extended BASIC which took advantage of the TI's hardware in ways the build in BASIC did not. But by that time, I was ready to move on to the ATARI Computers!

Jesus, if I keep this story-telling-cadence up, I'm going to end up writing a novel. Suffice to say that the TS-1000, TI, and Atari computer taught me the essential basics of coding which I still use today in my work. The syntax and structures might be a bit different, but the underlying concepts are the same.

But back to the classic gaming: I have two working 2600's - A 6-switcher, a 4-switcher and about 20-30 carts for them. Recently I ordered a Harmony Cart for the consoles. I still have my 800XL along with its 1010, 1025, 1030, 1050 and SX212 accessories. It has remained boxed since 1995. It's probably high time to dig it out and see if it still works!

As for modern day gaming, I have a PS3, PS2 and Wii. I specifically got the PS3 for the Rock Band games which I still enjoy playing. The PS2 was acquired specifically for the DDR (Dance Dance Rev) games which I was heavily into in 2005-2007. The Wii is kind of a "standby" for social situations that devolve into "What are we going to do now?" questions. LOL

All in all, I can't really say I'm much of a video game collector. I *did* just order Boulder Dash though! The WOW factor of playing a brand new, high-profile game on a 30+ year old console was just too great to pass up. So, maybe that - along with the recent Harmony purchase - is merely the first steps of becoming a collector. Who knows?!

In addition to gaming, I enjoy camping, hiking, tour-cycling, all forms of travel, movie watching, music listening, working on PC's (like hardware upgrades and such) and the occasional TV series. My username here is a concatenation of three bands that I very much enjoy: Yes, Rush and Genesis (particularly Gabriel-era). I also enjoy Radiohead, The Cure, The Art of Noise, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Duran Duran, Led Zepplin, and... just too many to list. I play bass, drums and a bit of keyboard - but Bass is my natural instrument.

Being an avid space-geek, I keep up with all space-related things on a daily basis. www.nasaspaceflight.com is the site I check most frequently. spaceflightnow.com is also a decent place. I gave up on space.com - several months ago they started getting ads that contained malware, so I started avoiding that place. Finally, unmannedspaceflight.com is a great place with more of a focus on unmanned missions.

Since coming to AtariAge, I have read and learned so much about creating games for the 2600. Considering my history above, it seems only natural to "complete the cycle" and write one myself. My problem is coming up with a realistic game idea to pursue and then moving from the "thinking about it" phase to the "actually doing it" phase. I do have one idea but it may be too large in scope. In the future, I may post the idea and see if our resident experts might provide advice on how to down scope the idea into something realistic.

Well, if you are still here reading, I hope you enjoyed it!

See you... Out there...
I can't be bothered Ebay'ing them, so thought I'd offer them here for what I think is a cheap price.
I don't want to have to ship them individually, so I'm offering them as a lot of 15 games for $ 15 (that's $ 1 each !) plus shipping.

WTS: Modded A/V Colecovision w/19 games, Expansion Module

I am selling a Colecovision modded by a user from this forum (it has been awhile, I think it was someone named Yukie?)

The system was modded for A/V output, and the controllers were modded to have knob joystics rather than the original discs.

The biggest problem the system had for me, which is NOT why i am selling it, was similar to other Colecos. Simply put, the PSU seems a bit sensitive, if it is not plugged in properly, artifacting will occur on screen.

The Expansion Module #1 is more of a bonus than anything; it is very fickle, and from what I remember, works but with some pretty lousy graphics. It seems like this might be a connection error, as the problems were alleviated some once I cleaned the connectors. I have only ever tested Halo 2600 on this system, but it worked alright apart from the problems mentioned.

The games it comes with are all Coleco games. They are:

Donkey Kong, Gorf, Frogger, Pitfall, Ladybug, Pac Man Collection (cart only, like all the games in the pile, black cartridge), Q-bert, Carnival, Turbo (doesn't work), Space Panic, Buck Rogers, Space Fury, Pepper 2, Venture, Burgertime, Donkey Kong Junior, Zaxxon, Subroc.

I am in Canada, will ship to Canada and US only, with tracking. Looking for 180 shipped.

Watch out for cosmic commuter NIB- not from a collection

Just want to give a heads up on this auction, Not sure if anyone else noticed, but this seller is a Venezuala seller and has sold at least another copy of this game. He is a NOS seller but, e is smart and isn't flooding the market all at once, I assume a cache of these has been found. So dont go too crazy on the bids.

As stated in his auction:
"The item is brand new and it has never been used. It has been in my collection for about 25 years. Very hard to find and scarce. Sold as is due its age. Good luck and happy bidding!"

Not his personal collection unless he keeps multiples of new games in his collection
Unfortunately I am the high bidder at $62 right now, and just noticed he is a reseller not a collector, but wont be bidding any higher as I may be able to get it for $10 in a few months

If this was posted somewhere else sorry guys. Just

Description:

Quote

Both Original and Compatible Power Supplies made back in the day for the Atari 2600 were mere Unregulated AC/DC Power Adapters.

This means that their voltage was not stabilized and, in order to obtain a current as close as possible to 9VDC (the voltage rating of an A2600) the Adapter had to be carefully chosen depending on its Amperage.

The result was that the poor Atari being feeded from a voltage fluctuating between 9,8 and 10,4V. Not to mention the fact that the provided current was unclean and badly filtered, which stressed the regulator placed inside the Atari 2600.

The Deluxe Atari 2600 Switching is an efficient item which has a 9VDC current which is not only stable, but more clean and highly filtered.

This SMPS is not only a High Quality Retro Innovation: being it tiny and light, Shipping is obviously cheaper than a heavy and old AC/DC Adaptor.

Hi. Nice to meet you.

This is an awesome website! I currently own 4 different systems (Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox, Atari 7800). I mainly play current gen games, but I regularly fire up my 7800 and play classics (food fight for the 7800 is probably my favorite). I also enjoy horror/sci-fi movies, working out at 24 hr fitness (it's right across the street from where I live), and spending time on my laptop.
