Invision is testing an upgraded Blog module on their site, which will address many shortcomings of the current blog and adds some new features as well. You can look at it here:

I would like to give some good feedback to the primary developer regarding changes and features my users would like to see. I've already commented about the lack of a "list" view, and I'm sure that will be coming soon. If you use the blog now, can you please tell me what you don't like about it and/or what features you'd like to see added? This is the key time to get these changes made.

If you're actively using the Blog module now, it would be great if you could test out the above link. Creating an account on Invision's site above and creating test blog entries would also help.

Ability to Block Forums from View New Content added

I've just added back the ability to block specific forums from the "View New Content" and "Today's Active Content" pages. If you go into "My Settings" (by clicking the drop-down menu next to your name in the upper-right corner of the page), then click the "Forums" tab and finally "Block Forums". Here's a direct link:

You can select one or more forums you don't wish to see when using "View New Content" / "Today's Active Content", and then click the "Block / Unblock Forums" button.

Here's a problem that just started yesterday:

View New Content | Mark All Items Read and result is "Web Page Cannot Be Displayed"

Also, there seems to be a timeout for View New Content which is frustrating.

I got the above error when marking all items as read. I went to a meeting and clicked on View New Content and there were no results. Now I just missed two hours worth of new posts.

I just paid for a member subscription and just realized that i paid $1.00 for the 1 year Atariage subscription instead of $25.00 as stated in the original topic. Additionally the 2 year atariage subscription is listed as $50.00 which is strange considering that i paid $1 for the year. I think this is a slight oversight and needs to be corrected immediately.

two things bothered me today ...

1) i searched for "PAL" and for "quelle" but i get no search results ...

2) "my posts" only gives me the last 200 posts and i cant find my own quelle thread where i offered quelle games ... but i find at least one post with "quelle" in the title, which again i couldnt find with the search function

Problems editing or creating posts using Chrome

When creating a new post or editing an existing one, all of the line breaks disspear in the saved post and I end up with one big paragraph. It didn't do this when the new forum was first rolled out, but I noticed it a week (maybe longer) ago.

I can't say what all the permutations are, but it does this with the basic editor and after editing with the Full Editor. Sometimes when I edit a post, I see a bunch of BR tags, sometimes I don't.

I may have different versions of Chrome on my 2 machines causing the "sometimes does, sometimes doesn't effect".

New iPhone / iPod Touch Forum Skin

I have installed a new iPhone / iPod Touch specific skin for the forum. This replaces the "Lo-Fi" skin that would come up by default when browsing on an iPhone/iPod Touch. The new skin is very fast and should allow you to access most of the forum functionality (not including other modules such as the Blog and Gallery--if you want to view them on your iPhone / iPod Touch, you should use the normal skin). You can also view / send PMs, which you could not do with the Lo-Fi skin.

This skin will come up automatically when browsing the forum on an iPhone or iPod Touch. If you want to get back to the normal forum skin, you can do so by selecting "View Desktop Version" at the bottom of the page.

Blog 2.1 Improvements

Invision has announced they are working on the next major version of the Blog module we use here on AtariAge, version 2.1. Already they have stated that they are adding proper categories back, as well as leaving the current tagging system in place. The User CP for managing blogs is also much improved. OK, I decided to put a new perspective on the AtariAge rarity list. Here are what I think are the rarest games by rarity. Basically these are the 1.9's 2.9's, 3.9's of the group.

Rarity 1
Night Driver
Star Raiders

Yeah, they are common, but no where near as common as Combat, Space Invaders, and are less common than pitfall which is a rarity 2 game.

Rarity 2
Backgammon
Boxing (Activision)
Commando Raid
International Soccer
Keystone Kapers
Maze Mania
Othello
Sneak N' Peak

As far as rarity 2 games these are a tad rarer. International soccer I would say is the rarest of the bunch. You just don't see it, and Sneak N' Peak was a horrible game so it is definitely on the rarer side.

Rarity 3
Basic Math/Fun With numbers
Basic Programming
Checkers
Quest for Quintana Roo
Realsports Soccer
Spiderdroid
Super Challenge Baseball (Telegames)

Checkers, and Basic Math/ Fun With Numbers top this list. Marco has a $200 bounty on this game, and he still can't find it. Basic math is a little easier to find but is also a tough one. The Telegames games for the most part are underrated as tuff ones to find. I think Telegames suffers from being around so long. They may have been around a long time but they are hard to find because of when they started selling games.

Universial Chaos is heads and shoulders above everyone else in this group. I have seen a ton more Waterworlds, Glibs, and Tooth Protectors than this game. The porno game double enders can be rare as well, as evidenced by the recent high prices for the games sealed.

Official Frogger

These games come up once in a blue moon. Cannon Man is 10 times rarer than the silver label Gravitar that people seem to go gaga over.

Rarity 7
Party Mix
Springer

Springer is hugely tuff, and Party Mix is hard as well. You just don't see this to often

Rarity 8
Diagnostic Cart
Survival Island
Sword of Saros

The fact that it was a Diagnostic cart should give people an indication it extremely hard to find. Survival Island and Sword of Saros are found like once or twice a year it seems.

Assault
Great Escape
Lochjaw
River Patrol
Tomarc/Motocross
Wall Defender
Z-Tack

Included the Bomb Games because while they are a tad easier to find than the other games, they are near impossible to find actually working. With Lochjaw and River Patrol I can't remember the last time these games came up boxed on Ebay.

Birthday Mania
Gamma Attack

There are two known copies of Gamma Attack out there at the moment, and one known copy, and rumored to exist copy of Birthday Mania. There are some huge collectors that will never ever own this game.

I just spent a couple of days adding some blog entries. They were there a little while ago. I had to sign back in, I guess because you're upgrading, and now it seems many blog entries are gone, and not just the ones I recently added.

Are they gone forever or can they be recovered?

I could be wrong, but I thought links in posts using the old forum were bold? They don't seem to be bold anymore, so links are hard to see. Can you make links in posts bold (whether they used to be or not) or do something to make them stand out a little more?
