This isn't such a bad game, except for the tune that plays when you're about to die. It almost sounds like a musical version of being taunted about being about to die.

I love this game, but without the (unlimited) continues it would be insanely difficult.

New score and the furthest I've ever gotten in this game: 87,820

112,935. I used to be able to clear the second stage on my first continue. As you can imagine, I was quite good at this game back then.

I did use a FAQ to jog my memory this time around. Is that allowed?

Read 'em and weep. 172020. I've been playing for a grand total of four hours--before that, I hadn't seriously played this game in ten years.

Er, never mind, I just cleared the third stage on one continue for the first time. I'll be changing that screenie... now my single game high is 224,255

Great challenge, though! It will take a little work to beat half a million.

Hey, you've got the cloak of invisibility there. I prefer the Staff of Power, and its timing is what I am having trouble getting used to again.
The timing is:
Hit B and Select simultaneously, then press and hold B to throw the second axe across the screen. Tap Select during this whole time to fire the Staff repeatedly.

Does the cloak really work?

I've played and beaten this game many, many times, and I have *never* seen the CoI do anydamnthing.

Aaaaaaaand...we're done. Sadly, I couldn't find/get a copy of W&W to play on my NES and so I wasn't able to put in any real time on this.

But kudos to those of you who did! Great scores!

I'm getting better, and I can see myself beating it without having to continue. If I can do that, you can too.

@Bobby: You're missing out. Get yourself a copy and play!

Did you guys hit select to make the cloak work, or just walk around wearing it? It does seems to work a little, but I'll take the Staff of Power any day.

My order of preference is:
Staff of Power
Wand of Wonder (it may be weak, but it will give you some breathing room)
Boots of Force
Cloak of Darkness
Horn
Boots of Lava Walk
