bit of background... on launch day I stood in line for a couple of hours at Wal-Mart at midnight but was too far back in line for a console. Decided to purchase Zelda thinking a Wii would pop up soon enough. The next morning I stood in line for another hour at Target for their launch, but again too far back in line. Over the past 3 months I've casually been looking for one every time I step foot in a retail store, no dice.

Fast forward to Friday. Tired of looking all over and decide to return Zelda...figure I'll get the money now and by the time Wii's are available it will be cheaper anyways. Here's how the "return" went:

Me: I'd like to return this game
Eva @ Walmart: Why, is it broken?
Me: No, I couldn't find a Wii, looked everywhere.
Eva: We have some.
Me: WHAT???
Eva: Would you like one?
Me: YES!!!

Eva then proceeds to walk through the "Employees only" door in the back and returns 30 seconds later with a Wii, my Wii! I asked her if a shipment had just come in and she said that they had been there since Monday. Why Wal-Mart kept them in the back room for 4 days and not on the shelf is beyond me.

The rest of the day was spent running around finding better cables, Wii Play, a second nunchuck and the WiFi adapter.

Game on!

Way to go!!! That's an awesome story. You had to be pretty jazzed, thinking you were going to return the game and ended up finally getting a Wii.

Often they keep them around for the flyers to go out. They're not supposed to let you have them until that day, but sometimes the employees don't know any better. Or maybe she felt sorry for you. ;)

That is cool.

I am shocked the employees at Walmart are not buying them for themselves or for friends and family that wants a wii unless they already did.

Thanks! Was totally stoked, made my month. Was kind of a roller coaster day going from the low of returning a game to the high of actually getting the system. Must take my meds, must take my meds... :D

Yeah, she probably did, bet I looked pretty pathetic there whining about not having one yet, heh.

Glad you guys picked up on my getting lucky reference, wouldn't want to get lucky there with anything/anyone else :!:
