Save your pennies and go get one and you will see exactly what I am talking about. Wont hold a candle to what you guys are doing with you single controller.
Trust me, I'm working on it. It's been hard to find WiiMotes around these parts, and WiiPlay came out at just the wrong time. :(

I can do you one better. You can get component cables from The Electric Quarter for just $15, including shipping!

That's a good deal, but a bit late for me now. I see it's a third-party cable, but it looks like a picture of Nintendo's cable (a least it has the Nintendo logo on the Wii connector).

I got my cable from Nintendo today (that was fast!) It's 8.2 feet long versus the 5 foot cable that Electric Quarter is selling.

The cable is thick, I was really surprised. Seems to be of good quailty though.

Hmmm I can check around here, I usually hit the video game section of any store we go into. I haven't really been keeping an eye open for Wii-motes. I had no clue they were so hard to come by. I remember when I couldn't find a Classic Controller to save my life, but now I see them everywhere. I'm still planning on getting one of those.

It's funny, because I saw Wiimotes at Toy'r'us a while back. After that, all I could find was Classic Controllers. I was a bit concerned that the dearth of Wiimotes was because they were having trouble getting the accelerometers, but I now think they were hoarding the 'motes for the WiiPlay release. I'll try to track down WiiPlay as soon as I have money to get it again. (Should be soon.) :)

When you think about it, it was a rather brilliant move on Nintendo's part. They get to make an extra $10 off of every Wii Remote sold, and all they have to give you in turn is a 10 cent piece of plastic that contains 10 tech demos that they weren't going to release anyway. Nice trick. :D

Zelda seemed fun, but the confusing sword control ruined it for me. I'd be hacking away at an enemy thinking I was hurting him, turns out he was behind me and I got hurt instead. Too wonky. I definately wouldn't repay to play that game on the Wii.

The game is like that with a cube controller as well.

Were you locking in on the enemy? (Z-button).

Yeah and what's the deal with this Wireless B/G stuff? I've yet to figure out a way to get both my DS and PSP to be able to hook up at the same time. Without turning of encryptions. Seems kind of unsafe to do it that way.

It appears that the wiimotes may be the biggest problem Nintendo is having with their production. That's probably a major reason why they only include one controller with the machine, and it remains as difficult to find extra controllers as it is to find the consoles. I don't think that's just a coincidence.

Don't the PS3 and Xbox 360 (both of which are more expensive) only include one controller as well? Hasn't this been the norm for some time now? I agree that the Wiimotes are hard to find, but not impossible by any means. In my last several visits to two different Wal-Marts they've been in stock just about every time. Same with the nunchucks.

It's been the norm, but for a machine which is marketed as a family room system, it seemed a little more likely they would include more controllers, or at least have loads of them for sale. Meanwhile the system itself is a much more conservative evolution compared to the competition, so there is less chance of them having problems building it. The apparent difficulty of finding controllers as well as consoles just implies the controllers are a major factor limiting the console production.

Particularly for this family oriented machine, the stores really should be loaded with controllers like the other accessories. It's either a production problem, or the controllers are so expensive to manufacture that Nintendo just doesn't want to mass produce them much yet. Or maybe they're not as scarce as I thought - from what you say about Wal-Mart maybe they're catching up.

You forget two things.

1. Nintendo never really expected the demand to be so high for the Wii
2. Some stores have a bad habit of removing the controller's (and holding the Wii's) so they will have the minimum amount of Wii's advertised for a sale.

#2 is a big one. I walked into best buy last weekend and they had about 10 or more remotes. But just yesterday all of the remotes were gone because they were holding them. I had to actually ask about them to get them to bring one out. (Actually I was looking for a nun-chuck).

Also... What makes you think the Wii is so much easier to produce? The thing IS smaller than the original cube, so no doubt it is a different design.

Just how many systems (that didn't have hard-wired controllers) had two pack-in controllers in the first year after release?

I guess there were two controllers packed-in at least through to the NES and SMS. What about the SNES?

But certainly since the original Playstation, one controller has been the norm at launch.

To Atari's credit, the Flashback 2 did come with two controllers. :D

I felt ripped off after saving my allowance money and getting a Genesis with only 1 controller. I think my brother's SNES came with 2. The SNES would have been maybe 1991 or more likely 1992, so I guess that's within the first year.
