We are starting a new NES HSC "season"! That means: I reordered the master game list - specifically, I re-integrated the already-played games - and the overall scores all return to zero!

So which game should we kick things off with? It seems to be the week of the sequel.

And also:

How many weeks per game?

Sometimes I think one week is too short; in many weeks I only have 1 or 2 chances to play the game. But on the other hand, if the game is not so fun two weeks can seem very looooooong.

Poll closes Tuesday, March 6, at approximately 8:00 am PST. Vote!

I think you should allow ways of having "new" game suggestions enter higher in the master list than games that were already played before.

Good point. I'm still not completely sure how to re-integrate the played-games back in. Maybe I shouldn't? I dunno.

I've seen that participation does tend to drop after the first week. I don't get as much participation as you do here, but I think the only games I would have been able to run for multiple weeks were Beef Drop and Pac Man Collection!, which are about 2% of the library we have.
Sometimes I don't get many chances to play the games in the HSC, either. Some weeks (like this one), I make time for the better games.
Unless you've got a rivalry going on between players, two weeks is a bit long, IMO.

come on guys, vote for gumshoe, not smb3, smb3 is such a crazy game really, and there are way too many people who have mastered it. I mean, i love the game, but it doesnt seem like a "i got a higher score than you type of game", and more like a "i beat smb3 bitches!" kind of game. ya see what im sayin? oh, well gumshoe will mean everybody will have to put away their emulators and hook up the old nintendo entertainment systems. I guess smb3 would be a decent way to start off a new season, id ont know, i will still go with kck-ass gumshoe though.

What was the game at the start of the first season?

With all the sequels on this system, it might be interesting to play an entire series of games, for example play all the Castlevanias together. Not sure if it would be better to play each of them in succession over several weeks, or just take scores for all of the games during the same week.

Maybe a multi-game theme would be better suited for the 2 week format.

That's an interesting idea. I'll keep that in mind. :)
