I was playing some Excite Truck tonight and my remote cut out. No "reconnect" message, nothing. I was pretty sure i had just put in new batteries a couple days ago, but i try replacing them anyway. Still nothing. I put the old batteries back in, and tried to sync the remote back up to the Wii. Nothing. About fifteen tries later and long after i've actually lost interest in *using* the Wii anymore tonight, it finally syncs back up with the system.

What the hell?

Anyone else have this issue or know what causes it?

When that happens...power off the Wii using the power button on the Wii itself. Once you got the Red light and not the orange, then unplug the Wii itself for a few seconds. Then plug it back in and try powering on the Wii with the remote then and see what happens.

That happened to me once, when I was navigating the menu screens, probably only a couple of days after I got my system. The Wiimote just stopped working, and every time I pressed a button on it all 4 lights flashed blue. Taking the batteries out and trying to resync the Wiimote didn't work. Then I decided on the old standby of switching off and unplugging everything, then plugging it all back together again. It worked and I haven't had a problem since.

Thanks. It certainly seems like a lot of the Wii's troubles just need a quick unplugging to fix them. Seems, i don't know...inconvenient. Yet convenient all at the same time.

definately conveniant, if it was the 360 you would be putting it in a box to send it off to M$ as we speak.

Only if my 360 kept locking up between tasks and rejecting its controllers like a cat with sick kittens. So far, it has done neither. :)
