I've never owned a console this early on before, when all of the games are *choke* 50 bucks each! So, which game should I get next?

Here's what I have so far:

Wii Sports (of course!)
Sonic and the Secret Rings (not exactly loving it, but it's not terrible)
WarioWare: Smooth Moves (not worth the 9.1 GameSpot gave it, but still pretty fun)
Zelda: Twilight Princess (great game, but I have the 'Cube version!)

I've ordered Rayman Raving Rabbids from Amazon... it's on its way. (This based on the recommendation of someone else who was in line at TRU to get the Wii on the day I picked mine up.)

I've been reading GameSpot's reviews, and I've been surprised at how low their ratings for most of the games have been. I'm wondering if they're saving the higher scores for the inevitable improvements that will happen over time, or if the games really are that weak. At any rate, I'm thinking Excite Truck might be the next game I should get, because I do like racing games (at least the crazy, arcade-style ones), plus Spongebue recommended it. But beyond that I'm not sure.

So... those of you in the know, what are the 10 best, "must-have" Wii games so far?

Well first I gotta say that Excite Truck is an excellent game. It's simple, straight forward, and FUN! Sucks that the game didn't sell too well.

Have you ever thought about Elebits? When it comes to Wii controls, it's very impressive. Gameplay is a mix between hide and seek, FPS, and Katamari. I must admit though, it's not for everyone.

In my opinion, there really aren't 10 "must-haves" yet for the Wii. We have Wii Sports, Wii Play, Zelda, Rayman, and Excite Truck. Until Super Paper Mario launches next month, there actually isn't anything else i want for the system.

i second excite truck heavily. great game. also, while you might see it as not a very "beefy" game, elebits is something you really should experience. idk, rayman was alright.. but it wasnt a "god i must play this now" game for me, but still worth the money as the only multiplayer game i have for the system at the moment. if your a fan of metal slug, id get the anthology.. its WELL worth the money, esp as many of the games in this are worth a lot of money. i know the copy of metal slug 1 for my saturn is worth abot 100 buckaroos. also dragon ball z bt2 is a good fighter, esp if you like the series. even if you dont, the moves are fun to pull off and the way its presented is pretty interesting and unconvential for a fighting game (ie: its not a perfect side view).

dont know if its good or not, but i have met someone who said cooking mama was a blast despite reviewer's opinions. i never tried the series out on the ds, but im willing to try it for the wii.. just maybe not for 50 dollars. im also waiting for super paper mario as well as the other slew of great titles coming out in the fall (hammer, disaster doc, ssbb, metroid, mario galaxy etc).

and i only got 9 games so far lol, but they are as follows:
wii sports (duh)
excite truck
red steel (you should try... its actually good)
dbz bt2
metal slug
elebits
zelda
sonic
rayman

I say Wii Play.
Do you have anyone else to play with? It certainly is fun with 2 players, though I have had a lot of fun on my own too. If you like short and simple 2600 games you likely will enjoy Wii Play. Think of it as Wii-Tari.

If you like football, Madden's really good - but I just sold my copy while it still was worth something, figuring they'll do even better w/ next year's version.

I really like Elebits myself. It's definately not for everyone, but has a nice, almost Katamari Damacy-like, appeal to it.

Why not take the money and work on beefing up your VC games or Cube game collection? I have to admit, I've been playing Chibi Robo and RE4 more than any of the Wii titles lately.

I hear Elebits is awesome, but I haven't played it.

Currently, I'm really enjoying SSX Blur. The default control scheme of steering by tilting the nunchuck was pretty much unusable for me, but if you swtich to analog stick-steering and realize the ubertricks are purely motion based (not "drawing" on the screen as implied) it controls really well. The game looks good, runs smooth, and is super addictive. I'm having a blast doing tricks with the wimote.

There is a lot of great, cheap Cube stuff out there, too.

Get Elebits for sure. That's probably my favorite game on the Wii and I highly recommend it.

excite truck for sure. as for rayman, i got tired of it after 2 days. next up for me is super paper mario. oh yeah, i wouldn't suggest wii play, either. i'm really getting sick of these half-assed mini games.

ELEBITS!!!

Seriously. I don't know why reviewers are so reluctant to give this game the credit it deserves. It was the best Wii game released in 2006. Before you interject with "Zelda," let me say again that it was the best *WII* game released in 2006.

Well I got two new games yesterday (apparently disregarding the advice here!), Rayman and Wii Play.

Rayman arrived in the mail from Amazon. I used a birthday gift certificate to (partially) pay for it. Haven't played it yet, but I plan to tonight.

Played Wii Play last night and I thought it was fun. I didn't expect much; the whole point of it is to help novice gamers get the feel for the controller. I look at it this way. I bought a new controller. I also spent $10 on a collection of mini-games. The games aren't great, sure, but they're not bad for 10 bucks! I think I could have fun for a while with the shooting gallery, billiards, and "laser hockey" (a.k.a. Pong)... surely enough to justify $10.

(And since these are finesse games, I might actually be able to win against my four-year-old! So far he's still struggling a bit with the whole concept of having to point the controller at the TV. Waving it spastically in bowling, he has down.)
