Very nice! You need to dent the 1500XL label to make it look more authentic. ;)

For the inside labels, I think those are too overstated. Modern laptops normally have one small 1" square glossy laminated label with the nVidia or ATI logo for graphics, one for the processor, and one for the OS.

It would be cool if you had perhaps the Antic magazine logo on a small 1" square. Maybe a small (like 4 point text) tagline "the future of graphics". Another 1" should be the MOS logo covering most of the 1" sqaure with NMOS 6502 or something below in text.
The final one needs to be something like a spoof on Windows Vista Ready. Something like "SpartaDOS X ready"

*edit* here's a mockup

Wow, that "Antic" am "MOS" mockups look good!
The reason for my stickers beeing that big was that
i failed to print them smaller, but ran out of time.

i will certainly do new stickers, those i presented
were just to to show what i'd like to have.

2 or 3 of them will probably be enough.

- MOS 6502 inside
- Antic logo
- QMEG OS ready

are my favorites.

When i was at that print shop yesterday, the worker there asked
what kind of Laptop that is. I told him its made of a 80's homecomputer
by Atari and typed a "Hello World" program in Basic.

Then he asked where the data recorder is, all computers back then had one.
I showed the CF card slot.... Then he got his boss to see it, too :)

Its nice to see, even people not involved in retro computing like it :D

OK then,

second try. I am slightly improving. Not professional yet, but looks ok for this weekend.

Thanks for your input, the MOS Logo and especially the idea re-using the Antic logo is great.

You should make it 6502c

the 6502 is what the Apple II uses.

Yes, the XL/XE has 6502c. But the differenceis only a pin for "halt" signal, iirc. Atari needed it to make it possible for Antic to interrupt CPU.

I think 6502 is close enough.

The screen is a LCD TV. It had composite, chroma/luma and VGA input, plus a RF Tuner. It was fairly easy to connect.

There is a logical mistake.... "ANTIC" and 256 colours doesn't fit. Particular the 256 colours are a GTIA thingy.

Antic gives the graphicsmodes (hires bitmap like) , GTIA gives the colours, anyways. :ponder:

The 400 and 800 both use the standard 6502, not the custom version.

Greetings

Since my laptop uses a 600XL i will change it to 6502c in next release candidate.

Good point! I will mention GTIA as well on the graphics sticker.

Think of how shocking it would it be if a casual passer-by saw this laptop and repeated the above statement!

This is great, I really love it. Ben's was cool, but this one indeed feels more Atari.
I want one :)
Seriously, Beetle, would you even consider making another one?
I wonder what the total costs are...

I agree... even if I have to buy all the parts... I'm willing to pay top dollar for you to assemble it all...

Beetle did an excellent job of capturing the "feel" and look of what an XL line product could've looked like in that formfactor.

BTW - Atari was in fact working on its own laptop computer in 1984, it was called "Atari Explorer"

Man, Atari's cost-cutting ruined everything! Atari Explorer started out as a full-fledged laptop, and by the time the bean counters got through with it, it was released as a flimsy magazine.

Not necessarily. 65802's have been discovered lurking inside some Apple II's.

The Atari 6502s were made by Synertek, not? Certainly the one I saw in an Apple ][+ was. (My Apple //e has a GTE 65SC02)
