Its been on for like a week or two now but it seems there is no topic here. :|

Anyway this was a tech demo I think running on the NiGHTS engine on actually Saturn hardware. It was programmed by Chris Coffin I believe. Some guy bought this protoype last year and just recently has released this video. Very nice, but a very incomplete game.

The floor looks like it's breathing in and out, I wonder if it's ment to be like that or whether it's just because the game is unfinished?

I wonder who did the music for the demo. Quite apt and...Sonicesque.

Very interesting.I remember seeing pics of Sonic Extreme a while back but i thought they were mock-ups.I did realize that there was a un-finshed demo/proto floating out there.

There has been a lot of information about Sonic X-Tremereleased, including videos, characters, stories, level design, et cetera:

http://www.senntient.../sxc/index.html

The owner was one of the lead programmers for the game, and they are working on releasing it. They call it "Project S."

The video originally posted in this thread was a prototype when the game was running on the NiGHTS engine. Here's what would've been released:

Thatīs not correct. The developer who runs this project (forgot his name) said multiple times Project S is not meant to be Sonic Xtreme. It will probably have similarities, but it is not the same game, and only for PC.

Yea, Sean has said that, but I think it's really for legal reasons. I fully expect it to be very similar.

Excuse the bump, but I figured this would be something kind of big regarding Sonic Xtreme. Over at Sonic Retro a bunch of Sonic Xtreme stuff was recently leaked. Essentially it's all of Sonic Xtreme without the game engine. Just read the readme in the main directory of the rar file. It's got bits of levels that we've all seen before and some new stuff!
It should be noted that this was in no way officially released by Chris Senn or Ofer Alon. This was leaked by someone they had trusted to keep the information secret because they didn't (especially Ofer) think it was right legally to release this since they worked on it.

Thanks! What a great read! Maybe in a few years we'll have a playable Sonic X-Treme game.
