OK here is the deal I need to dump Bio-Defense by TYMAC along with some other 8 bit protos, I am in Fremont Cal.
and wont be mailing these items so I need to find someone in the area who can help

The TYMAC Bio-Defense is in a case I cant seem to get open so it will need to be dumped without opening
it, the otheres I can open and probably dump myself but since I need the Bio dumped we might as well dump
them all at the same time

BTW I have another topic in the 8-bit forum about label rot that kinda went of topic about these items and since
I have gotten an answer to my problem I am going to ask that it be closed

Here is a list of the Protos with some notes

Plato
------------------------------------
Plato title screen says:
Welcome to Plato Telelink 2-28-84
copyright 1984 Atari
Microbit 300 Baud

Disk Diagnostic
--------------------
Start screen reads:
810 Disc Field Exercise Rev: 0
Select Number Option:
1 Align (Disc Read Test)
2 Burn-In Test (W/O Format)

AtariWriter Rev# 16 Serial # 90
------------------------------------
has support for 80-column printers.
I dont think a cart was ever made with 1020 or 1027 option
Menu printer support
1 Atari 1025
2 Atari 825
3 Atari 1020
4 Atari 1027

Tennis
-----------------------------
Tennis Title screen:
Atari Tennis
(Picture of a Gold Winner Cup)
Copyright 1983 Atari Inc.

QUESTION is this named Atari Tennis in the
released version ?

Pole Position Rev#0 Seial #11
-------------------------------------
Title screen Has a changing copyright that reads
1982 Namco then changes to 1983 Atari
continues to change back and forth

Question Does the released ver. have a changing copyright ?

400/800 Super Salt
------------------------------
It has an Atari Rejected sticker that looks like it says 1250 XL
Title screen reads:
Atari 400/800

It's probably Realsports Tennis, which does say that on screen.

BTW, the different colors in Bio-Defense may be due to the emulator palette. We'll have to wait to be sure, though...

Well, the program was actually released on tape in the UK so this is where the cracked file comes from. IIRC, there's a review of the game in Home Computing Weekly as well.

Attached File  Cartcopy.zip   3.55K   87 downloads

Give this program a go.

I wrote it like 20 years ago - just a fairly simple file and cartridge copy program in BASIC.

It will copy standard 8 and 16K cartridges - and put binary file headers for the load and init/run sequence.

It won't work on bank-select type carts, and the standard file it creates has no tricky loader so it doesn't do stuff like set the memory pointers properly before attempting to run the cartridge.

But, it will at least create a file version of most older carts.

Once you've selected the Copy Cartridge option, press a key when you've inserted the cartridge.

The screen colour should change when it's been copied. Then, remove the cart and press another key.

Once that's done, just use the Save File option to write it to a disk file.

You can hotswap cartridges ? I didn't think you could do that without messing up the computer.

Sure you can, it depends on the cart though. I have a translator cart for my 800XL that you plug in, boot, and then swap it out for the game you want to play.

Thanks for the help and file, maybe I can ask some friends and see if anyone still has a 5.25 floopy
set up on a old computer

I'd be leery of hot-plugging such a rare cart, there is a small but real chance of damaging it.

You really need a MLM to dump it properly without damaging it. Do you have access to an eprom burner? You could burn a copy of the Omnimon OS and use that to dump the cartridge directly to disk.

You wrote this? How cool is that. My dad and I used this program I believe in the earlier days to copy carts. How fun. Good to meet you.

Well, if I can find it, my dad modified an Atari 400 to disable the cartridge at boot and allow for the cartridge to be copied. I'm going to look and see if I still have that 400.

Bump!

FND has some nice prototypes here, and it would be great to have them dumped and archived.

Can anyone in the Bay area help out?
